Im having some issues with my 1kz surf and Im looking for a 1kz ecu to borrow or rent to confirm whether the ecu is the root of the problem.
Does anyone know where I can get one?

Tough to find. Its a common issue. Do some research. Read about some "caps" in the ecu eventually need replscing

Rack was disposed of. Sorry

Thanks to droppa. Sorted out my cooling issue by actually making the fan run slower. Yes slower. Clutch fan was running at full speed and puttibg load on engine. Opened tye viscous fan and slackened two internal screws, adjusted clockwise and reinstalled. Fan now trips off and on. Freewheels on highway and temperature now varies between 80-90 degrees. Before it was 100. Added a condenser fan for those hot days

That's some good trouble shooting. A lot of people lock the clutch fan not knowing its drains the engine.

True. I went to see one once and its registered as a toyota hilux with surf body. Certified copy in order. apparantly this one is legal on paper but not a legit surf. So there are two ways of looking at it. Is it a legit surf or a legal surf lol

Out of interest, anyone willing to trade a TDD 3.0L manual Hilux for a 3.0L automatic and a cash difference? Mileage around 19k
Just throwing this out there...

Good day tuners

Question:

Concerning aftermarket rims and tyres for pick-ups, do you (personally) consider load ratings?

...and generally speaking, do you know of or think there are tyre shops that are qualified/certified to advise consumers on load ratings for 4x4 vehicles, pickups, etc.?...

I was doing some research and i found out that if you put a different set of wheels on your vehicle other than what is stock, if the overall diameter does not change it's fine...however in some countries it is illegal to change wheels to anything too far away from stock, so much so that if you are in an accident and your wheels are not load rated to suit your vehicle the insurance company can void your policy leaving you to deal with the rest...

I am in the process of acquiring a 4x2 hilux and was considering changing the stock wheels to something decent; in researching the bolt pattern, centre bore diameter and lugnut size etc. i came across this load ratings thing and the kinda wheels i see men running on their 4x4's i doubt they studying that

I just wanted to here a local opinion, thought this forum might be a good start.

shark, few ppl look at load ratings of rims and tires, and the rest just buys what suits their fancy, personally for off road i prefer my wheels to be JAWA certified and of aluminium composition so its, strong and light, less weight and strain on my drive train because tires can get pretty heavy as we go up in size.

Guys, I have a TCD Hilux which bought used about a year now, Vigo model. Sometimes driving you would hear a strange noise as if a prolong bed spring noise. It would last for about five seconds and stop. It is intermittent. The noise happens driving around 40km on the country roads. Once I was home and heard the same noise in a Hilux passing in the road. I grease up all nipples the other day.
