Steering Wheel vibrations

Fellow tuners. I have a ZZE121 corolla. Everytime i go over 80km/hr and mash brakes my steering wheel vibrates a lot. Now i never got that problem before and my tires front and back were recently balanced. What could be causing this problem?

Go to an allignment place and let them check your front ends
Did they tighten your front wheels, Did you check and see if all wheel nuts on.
Also they use these stick on weights which have a tendancy to fall off when balancing the wheel.

hmm. I did change the cradle arm bushings (front) but I went and aligned after , that was in early september. Of course all the nuts are on thats the first thing to check. The weights could have falled off, I did the balance like a week before the alignment so ill get that checked again. I was thinking about the front ends but i only get the vibrations when i mash the brakes. A friend of mine told me it could be the rotors? I know i have to go by a mechanic but im trying to narrow down the possibilities.

The key here seems to me this-"and mash brakes".
Check list should start from there, which equates to rotor disc, brake calipher and brake pad.If all check out ok then move on to tire pressure, balance, etc.
If none of the above apply then full suspension check.
An observation that can be made is that since you changed cradle bushing with an aftermarket product you will generally experience more feedback as compared to the original toyota full cradle replacement (toyota doesn't market the bushing as a separate item). This feedback is quite different to what you described and is more like a slight background vibration.
Hope this helps.

Check to make sure your axle nuts are torqued to spec, check your cv joints and wheel bearings.

rotors bent , had this same issue with this same corolla. Have it machined or replaced, if you machine it your braking power will decrease though but its the cheaper fix.

I get the same problem. It was greatly reduced when I change the cradle bushing to Energy Suspension. Waiting till month end to buy rotors.... I now get the vibration when I mash at ah hard, kind of sudden break.

simple man, your rotor disk is bad.... get new ones and your problems gone. your rotors must be bend. that happens when your rotor are hot and dey get wet, dey warp.

well in my case i attended to the two front first and that solved the problem ... so try the front and if you still feeling a vibration check the back... you can tell they are bad because you see brake marks etched on them. Thats when you mash brakes and the rotor's surface is uneven.

I paid $1000 for SP Performance rotors from Dual Star for my NZE. Just change the front & all vibrations stopped on mashing the brakes. Those are cross drilled slotted rotors to eh. Works best!!!
I actually place the old rotors on a flat surface & clearly one was wrapped. I don't think the back rotors can warp easily as it takes less stress & it seems more solid & thicker with no air cool in the middle.

2001 civic. That's the EK4?
Regardless, does the car have a stabilizer bar? If yes, the bushings on the bar could be busted. When the bushings on the bar are worn, they give a vibration to the front wheels which transfers to the steering wheel arounf those speeds.

YEA ITS THE es1 ...went and got a suspension check though.. and they said everything is good...the stabalizer bar has a slight movement though.. but hear this.. on the left side front tyre the tyre is cutting on the inside threads.. and they said that can cause the steering to vibrate, cuz when im driving let say even at 40km/hr i hear a 'whoop whoop' low noise (yea dats the sound..lol)..coming from the front left..and what they did, they jacked up the front end (dunlop sp sport 205 15 inch tyres btw) and revved the tyres they said one was heavier and i need to change to two new tyres..!!! and i bought those new last year btw.. hmm also i was wondering.. i changed the inner boot on dat same left side cus it was torn.. and got a new boot with grease.. and hear a knock everytime the tyre goes into a depression on the road.. lets say arounf\d 40km/hr.. hmmm.. lol.. sorry for making you guys read all this.. but i need help.. or even a good suspension place that does repairs and stuff.. oh im from south too... thanks guys
