Rav4 Hot Starting Problem

fellas looking for some ideas. have a 2004 Rav4 failing to start when the engine is hot. cold starts are fine. If i drive for 20-30 minutes or more, turn it off then try to start it again is problems. only starts if you mash gas. it idles fine once started.

any rav4 owners have/had similar problems?

It cranks or the starter just clicks?

cranks. shuts off when the key is released.

Possible causes include bad starter solenoids bad fuel pump or bad coil packs. You may need to have a diagnostic run as there are a range of things that can cause this

Ok it cranks so take starter out of the mix. You need to know if at that point you getting fuel and spark.

Did some research. Check your crankshaft sensor. If its not that may either be a fuel pump or filter issue. Hope this helps

Finally got through. Did the scan, nothing showed up. Checked and cleaned the throttle. That improve it a little. The van would start but it was always on the verge of cutting off. The mechanic noticed that there was a funny smell when starting. Turns out the airflow sensor was the problem. The sensor wasn't allowing a proper airflow mix - he cleaned it yesterday and that solved the issue. Starts fine whether hot or cold now. Did everything at Service Terminal on Evans Street opposite massy in St Augustine. Thanks for all the suggestions!
