Problem with Toyota Fielder, Transmission?

Postby zerophase » June 5th, 2016, 9:48 am

Good Day Guys ,

So I’m having this problem with my Fielder (2002 )
At around 60 kmph 4000 rpm there is a sudden “jerk” when the car changes gears (car is automatic though). Also, I’m feeling this jerk at lower speeds but some around the same rpm. What is very strange is that if I take off the OD OFF button, there are no signs of this at all. Basically it feels like when you’re driving a manual vehicle and you take your foot off the clutch too fast..(the jerking feeling)
What also happens randomly is that whilst accelerating, the engine feels as though it’s stalling like for a few seconds (rpm doesn’t change whilst trying to accelerate and then picks back up and continue as normal).
Now initially, we sent the vehicle for body job so it spent about 4 wks by the straightner’s garage. When the car came back and we started driving it, we were getting a lot of jerks at random speeds and rpm. We went to a mechanic who said it’s the transmission and we changed it out for a foreign used one. After driving it we started to get the problem I stated above (4000 rpm), so we thought it was the trans fluid and changed it out to Toyota ATF IV . Same problem.
Maybe we got a bad transmission, so we changed it out another one…..same issue. So we went by a guy name Charles in Duncan Village to build over the transmission. He used our old one (worked perfectly prior to body job) and one of the foreign used ones, to rebuild. Built it back using both and same issue. So basically we at a lost on what to do now. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sensors on the transmission could cause it too,or the control module, you should have a good transmission person scan it .

Do you all recommend any one in particular ?? I'm at a lost at this point.
Also, it's very strange that with the OD OFF the problem never surfaces

I have the same problem since last year. Same 2002 Toyota Fielder. Mine started when I changed the engine alone. Then I change the engine and transmission I'm still getting the same problem. Even scanned the vehicle a few times with no errors found. I'm getting a delay as well when I accelerate and the gear downshifts. The car lags for 2 seconds and then it delivers the power. Still trying to fix this issue.

I had the same problem. I figured it out myself. After numerous engine scans. Clean electrical connections that go to the engine and transmission sensors. I cleaned the oxygen sensor at the rear of the engine which fixed the problem.
