Considering buying a 2008 Corolla for Taxi work

Postby EFFECTIC DESIGNS » May 26th, 2018, 12:26 pm

Hi there I am considering buying this car if I can get the loan.

http://www.trinicarsforsale.com/databas ... #topofpage

^ The bonus is its way more beautiful than a TIIDA and I am sure much more durable. However as you know Toyota parts are not known to be as easy to find as NISSAN and there is a saying that NISSAN is a poor man car.

Here is my question, do you get what you pay for in Toyota? and will these corolla parts be easy to find in the coming years? and on average how much more money will you have to spend vs a Nissan?

Say a corolla part is twice the price as a Almera or TIIDA do you get twice the lifespan?

Don't bother just found out Corollas are not good for this kind of job, expensive parts and hard to find parts aswell. Nissan seems to be the way to go for Taxi

corolla parts hard to find? since when? never had issues finding parts for my corolla. they are more expensive but as easy to find as a nissan from my experience. only thoese 4wd models are problems honestly. i can get pretty much any part new or used for my fielder. it all comes down to if you want to spend the money to maintain them. nissan is cheap at the cost of comfort. toyota is comfortable at the cost of being more expensive to maintain. so best you focus more on your budget and let that guide your decision.

Looks like ur right only the 4WD corolla parts hard to find but regular Corollas the parts easy to get.

Someone advised me on a NZE he said the parts cheaper than the Axio and that his Axio was a bounce head business because it uses CVT which meant it costs way too much money to service the transmission. He claims its $2000 to do a 40,000 KM service on a CVT tranny in a Axio?

Can anyone confirm? I really liked the Axio but dunno here, I mean I assume Corolla is a great car even for Taxi work since it can withstand more abuse before requiring part change. I am really liking the Axio

i think the cost attached to the service is depending on the method used. some places use a machine to remove the cvt fluid and fill i back. other places drop the pan, replace the gasket and then refill. most of the cost attached is how people usually suggest you use oem oil but i think once you use one that is cvt complaint and not normal transmission oil ( which seems to be the mistake alot of people make)

i think a gallon of cvt fluid from toyota is roughly 5-600 dollars. takes about one gallon to fill it. you also may need to replace your transmission filter once in a while , not sure if it is required at every service but i guess it would make sense. the only bad thing about the cvt is you cant check your oil levels as there is no easily available access ( no dipstick) so on time serving is necessary to ensure no damage happens especially if you have a leak.

oh also i own an nze121 and they are pretty strong cars and great on gas. the only expensive part really is the ac compressor which is stupidly expensive even used (between 2000-3000 dollars) . The only major issue you will really have with the a higher mileage nze is the chain tensioner tends to go bad after a while causing a rattle at low rpm but this can be fixed by replacing it and the chain guides

Real men have the fielder in that age range, or the corolla in the model before that... The price bracket should be 25 to 35k

nze121 still going for 40-50k . fielders are usually a solid 50k or more depending on the condition

One of the reasons for that is NZE121 compressors are being used as a substitute for dem NZE141 compressors with the solenoid issue. At least that was told to me by an AC guy when he was checking my 141.
