Question here, does the 10th number in the VIN number really have to indicate the year in which the car was produced? example is if it is 5 does this necessarily mean it is a 2005 model?
Also i really need to know the correct valve lifter to get for my 4g18 cs3a engine as they may need replacing. here is an image of what i've seen online, don't know it it's the correct one as it is for the American models (2.0L).

is there any difference between the 4g15 dohc block and the 4g15 GDI block?

noticed something today after i opened up my lancer on the hiway
around 95 Mph
the car starting to seem unstable like its gonna easily sway off the road
what can i do to help avoid this?
i was thinking
Wide rims and tires
sway bar front?
lowering the car?
^would these make sense? and which one i should see noticeable gains?

What transmission fluid does the lancer use? How often should it be changed and how hard is that to do? I tried searching but it's too many pages.

Better tyres will make a big difference.

alignment was off, fixed that and no problems now
what you guys think about castrol Edge? for a 4g15 dohc ?
Whats a good type plug to use for the same 4g15?
heard some good stuff about the bosch

I have a question....Currently I drive a CK2 lancer and Im getting a complete hood with sunroof for $2000. Is it safe to cut the roof of the car? Would it affect the safety of the car?

What kind of Lancer? CB, CK, CS, CY?????
If it the CK Lancer, you can use the Mitsubishi Dia Queen SPIII fluid. I believe Castrol and Amsoil have compatible fluids. You can contact
Big Z on the forum concerning the Amsoil ATF.

You draining the torque converter as well (a flush) or are you just draining from the stop cork bolt under the car? The latter will require about 1 gallon while the transmission flush will take about 8-9 quarts.
I did a flush in my CS in March. The transmission took 9 quarts.
Do a search for more info there sb. Lots of transmission threads.

Guys A Question here for anyone with a electrical background; as of last night part of my dash backlight does not work when i turn on my headlights. i can see the lights from P-N and my odometer etc. I can Also see my brake, engine light & srs lights as well but, what i can't see are from D-L and the the backlight for those letters is very dim, almost off completely when the headlights are on. Can anyone tell me what this is?

I have never changed mine but I think they are the same type of bulb as would be your park light bulbs so buy whatever colour you like. I have seen green, blue, and crystal white.

i have an idea strange but pondering quite a bit about it
if i buy evo4 front setup (spindles calipers ect shock coilover)
can this bolt up in a ck lancer?
or just the shock/coilover combo can it work on the current ck setup? rather than interfering with the stock braking system

i know for a fact the lights would bolt up but would the trunk lid setup work? or ill need to get the rods and thing where the lids holds on to the car

Question: While going down hill on the weekend my car, being an auto just shot up from a normal 2000 rpm to 3000 and it sounded like it wouldn't change gears. Is that normal for the CS3A Lancers or is something wrong. By the way it would only "ease-off" when i hit the gas pedal or when i get to a flat road.

^ Can't say for the cs3 but my vrg does that, it's normal for mines with the invecs II tranny, a sort of hill descent, keeps the gear to lower speed.

^^^ Seems normal to me. I have a CS3 also. It does that when descending a hill.

Irie, that's good to hear. I kinda figured that this was the case with this 'engine braking" thing but just wanted to be sure that it wasn't a fault in the tranny. Thanks for the info fellas
