U need new ones... All DOHC mitsu engines suffer this at some point and it's called lash adjusters...

These pretty much self adjust the valve clearance that U once had to do with a feeler gauge. But consider that these engines have done many miles and many years at that and they are a mechanical part that wears over time so the valve doesn't open as is should.

Some use oil addatives, some change to different body or quality of oil etc but no matter what is done it will return. I constantly get people asking if it's piston slap the way it sounds...

As said the only viable solution is to have them replaced. U need 16 of course but I dunno who sells them here other that probably the dealership in Japan.

Are the 4G15 DOHC lash adjusters self adjusting?

Because the CK4 MIVEC which has a DOHC engine has manual valve clearance adjustment. Yup, special wrench and feeler gauges.

MIVEC's valve system different: they use conventional means vs others...

Mishi he may not have to change them just yet. Most times the issue is either the choice off filter or oil. What do you use now?
I would suggest using the sakura 1011 filter and shell helix in the blue bottle. I am sure the noise will be less and with regular oil changes it will get quieter.
There are some crazy mechanics I have heard use transmission oil and run the engine saying that the detergents in the transmission oil will clean the engine and gum off the lifters DON'T DO THIS.
That small hole that the oil needs to go thru to lub the lifters if the filter element is causing a drop in oil pressure there will be insufficient lubrication at that point. On my 100000 kmtear down to service my 4g15 the engine appeared to be new no dark spots just bright shinny metal all over. The current owner did a tear down at 215000 he said the engine still had not developed any tarnish or buildup.
