NONMIVEC FTO

Postby trini iceman » September 13th, 2015, 7:50 pm

Well after a failed attempt here to sell it I've began resurrecting my FTO. So I've decided to write about it and hopefully it could help out someone.

Engine is out on the stand awaiting new timing belt, pulleys and tensioner. Did some research on the tension pulley and discoverd it's the same as 1.8 Integra so I would have racing parts on my car  . The water pump has been changed and it was a good call because of the rust I saw in there, just horrid. Appart from belts and pump also planning plugs, leads all hoses double checking wiring, rotors, upholstery.

Shocks were changed front and rear, drop links, shock mounts, ends, wheel bearings (front), calipers rebuilt, brake hoses redone. The gearbox (f5m42) has received all new bearings and seals thanks to United Bearings and Cobratransmission.com.
Pics, part numbers and other useful info will be posted soon.

Slight change of plan. The fto will no longer be sporting the v6 6a13tt but a 4g64/63 hybrid instead. Got some 150mm eagle rods. After Christmas I'll be going to the machine shop to get the block bored, honed, decked, surfaced and tanked.

6a13tt is a great engine. It's strong, and torque comes easy and honestly stock for stock it'll kick the 4g63t but it's big and getting uprated parts is very difficult. The 4g64 with evo head is a build known around the world and alot of companies have developed parts specifically for it. So you get the availability of evo parts and the torque of lightweight relatively high revving engine.
