CS3 4G18 starting problems...

Postby mark2.0 » November 25th, 2016, 11:28 am

Hey fellow Tuners I need your help. The car sometimes would start normal, in one tumble and at other times it just won't start don't matter what you do. I changed fuel pump, all fuse are good. Twice I unplugged the map censor for a while and plug it in and it starts. Try that other times and nothing. Any help appreciated.

Faulty map sensor would allow you to start but then die down.
is the engine tumbling at all?
Unplug map completely and try to start, the car will start without the map and throw a cel with rough idle if it doesnt then you could be looking at a failing crankshaft sensor.
Have the car scanned and dont just do guessing what you think the issue is.

Yes the car is tumbling.
No I didn't scan it.
Thanks I'll check the crank sensor and have it scanned.

Did some test and found that sometimes one coil pack is not getting current.
What could be the problem?

This was happening to my Cs3 4g18 as well, there is a plastic wheel inside of the starter assembly that gets worn. You can either buy a used starter and fish out the wheel and re-install or buy and slap in a complete new starter. I harvested an old starter and it fixed the problem for about a month. Then slapped in a brand new one and it's been 2 years since I had the issue.
