i liking the ATP Gt3071r, Just throw on injectors, meth and stock intercooler and intake can work. Open up the exhaust a bit and you set.

What you looking at tho? gtx35r rotated?

If I go rotated it will be something V-Band. With an exhaust size that matches my needs perfectly. This is the downside with the ATP options, you more or less have to accept what ever configuration they offer off the shelf.

I like some of the options from PTE and BorgWarner. I am leaning toward the BW though. The EFR line is insane.

i was hoping IHI would one day release some variants seeing that the new ferrari 488 uses a twin turbo set up with two BB twin scroll turbos from IHI - same company that supplies OEM turbos on the scoobies...

Turbocharged with two parallel ball-bearing twin-scroll turbochargers supplied by IHI and two air-to-air intercoolers, the compressor wheels are made of low-density TiAl alloy often used in jet engines to reduce inertia and resist high temperatures within the turbocharger

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_488

iirc somewhere i saw a variant of the paganis rocking PTE turbos as well...

The GTR uses IHI turbos as well. They have absolutely no aftermarket support though. You can't even get original repair kits. They are 100% dedicated to OEM.

I realized that the 2015 WRX made the switch back to Garrett as well. I think this is a good move for support and aftermarket potential.

Nice numbers!

What software did you use? Could you post the graph?

I'll see what I dig up over the weekend.
Used the Cobb software to monitor the run and how the car performs. Zero issues / problems.

Interesting,

I didn't know that Cobb still had support for JDM ECU definitions.

What software was it exactly? What parameters did you log?

Sorry, I meant rom raider.
Used a laptop.
Among parameters monitored were knock, fine knock correction thingy, boost and I'll get the others just now.
Wanted to make sure engine healthy and it is.
Having some trouble getting around the alarm for tuning. It locks down the car and won't allow for anything.

Download learning view and pull a view.

That will give you a good indication. You can also post it if you don't mind and we can make some comments.

Engine Load,
Knock correction advance,
Fine learning knock correction,
RPM,
Engine load and
Boost

And last plug in we checked coolant temp as well as what temp the fans come on.
Changed all fluids this time and took a peep inside at the clutch plates to see the condition in there. Things looking good.

Have to invest in a boost gauge as some spikes were noticed, a wideband and change the clutch master cylinder seals.

I should mention that this peak into the operations were done on a friends laptop with his cable. I actually forgot to buy a cable and vernier caliper this week. He has some experience with Subaru as he had one before and knows his way around them. Tuned quite a few vehicles including his own.

This is what I urge all potential buyers to do before purchase.

In any event. It's something that everyone should do.

His estimates regarding the increase in cylinder pressure vs timing advance is very interesting. Many people tend to underestimate the implications of 1-2 degs of aditional timing.

The power trade of between EWG VTA vs Recir dump is also very interesting.

Nice post.

The holy grail of ej motors.

Interesting point to note regarding their unwillingness to sleeve blocks.

A lot of people seem to be developing similar sentiments and leaning towards the close deck options.

make sure your subaru uses SSM over k-line. I have both the vag-com cable which uses k-line and an obd2 cable. The ELM obd2 cables sold use the standard obd2 commands, SSM is proprietary. The vag-com allows you to send the serial SSM commands. I use an android program called BTSSM with a USB OTG adapter. I suppose you can use torque pro as well but the version of cable i have doesn't use an FTDI chip so I haven't been able to test torque pro. You can get the FTDI vag-com cables on ebay.

Very nice.

Are those all the parameters it is capable of reporting?

Yep it can and the person who make the app always throwing out updates, it have a thread on legacygt.com for it I believe. If anybody have a tactrix (it has an ftdi chip) and a rooted android you could probably try torque pro. Torque pro could give you live graphs but you need to change the protocol to SSM. The only issue i had with the cheap cable i bought is that sometimes my airbag light comes on, not sure if is the app or the cable. Some of the folks on the thread for BTSSM say that it happens probably when you try to monitor too many parameters.

If you try to log too many parameters its messes with the resolution anyway so its best to keep it to a core set of informative parameters.

Overall this is a good android based alternative. Had I know about it I might have gone this way. Then again it would have restricted me to only logging.

I'm currently building a windows based carputer to integrate into my dash for logging and map switching. I'm still gathering the parts but i'll put up a build when I get back home and start it.

Check out evodroid7 for some ideas...

Think it might work for subarus as well...

Was looking at options for running torque pro but lots of ppl seem to get problems logging afrs but the evodroid allows you to plug in external inputs to log..

Saw innovative have a wideband afr and boost digital gauge in one..side note

Looks good.

I'm actually going windows based since there are already so many proven softwares on the market for the Subaru ECU (rom raider, learning view, ECU flash etc).

I just picked up a spare stereo cluster to hack up in order to mount the screen.

Taking me back to my car audio fabrication days. More than likely I will relocate the climate controls (since they are electronic controls) and fab an extra single din under the double din spot. The double din will be used for the carputer screen.

The thing about these is that they have 1 USB input (which also acts as the charging port).

Generally, in order to permanently fix it In the car you will need an isolated charging input.
