87 is AKI used in the US also called regular unleaded. It is equivalent to our super. BTW our super is 92 Ron.

It is listed that using regular will have no detriment to warranty or engine durability.
However in Trinidad the temperature is higher than in the US. So if u really wanna use super u probably can but u NEED TO LOG THE CAR. To ensure that there is no knocking otherwise switch to premium.

Can u get a hold of the manual in the firm before u purchase so u can verify for yourself.

Yeh that's where it all started when I test drove it,
I asked about the fuel and was told and shown it could run on super.
I myself did not want to take that as gospel so I researched it and confirmed it.
But as a last kind of surety decided to ask the folk of Trinituner hoping maybe there would be a 2015-2016 wrx owner that already runs super in theirs.
My plan is to run super to and from work as this will save me a lot of money and run premium when I wanna have some fun.

Pirate and myself giving you the best advice here. Its best not to put super, if you do, plug in and log it. I know for a fact the ecu in the wrx with the ej20 turbo compensates for lower octane gas at lower rpms but at higher rpms the engine knocks beyond what the ecu can compensate for.
The manual itself says the engine may not like it.

At the firm they dont really care about you.

If gas is an issue best advice I can give you from here is to scoop up an older model wrx or sti, drop in a water meth kit, retune and run on super. That and I just drank some vinegar cuz I find it smells nice, I can tell you dont ever drink vinegar.

I have tuned my 02 wrx to run on super.
It runs great with no knocking detected and obviously slower than if running on premium. It is still better than a non turbo.

And yes having a sport car and running super serves my purpose. Not every sport car owner wants to drive hard everytime they get behind the wheel and worst yet on public roads.

The new wrx does not have the ej20 it is a whole new engine the sti still has the old ej25 though.

That's why u said plug in and log or talk to someone who has.
Really not sure if the ecu in this one adjusts for poor quality fuel. Never did much research into these as I'm not too fond of them.

Hey jm3 Check out a foreign new out of japan wrx s4, Its a JDM car thats between the WRX and STI.
HP is bumped to 296 same FA20 engine in the wrx and has some better features. Should actually work out cheaper than the wrx from Massy.

You have to bring it in yourself tho.

I don't trust customs too much corruption I'd feel sick if they hit me randomly high fees and I end up paying more for a car than if I'd just bought it locally tbh I wouldn't be bringing in a Wrx if I did that I can pick up a cla45 Amg in England instead lol

Yeah how the wrx driving???

Saw 2 new ones on the road within the last 3 weeks. Classic rally Blue one regularly frequents rivulet road and a silver I think up north.

Some sound advice here.

The BRZ engine runs a 12.5:1 compression ratio. That's very high, and it's why we can extract so much power from a 4 cyl. 2.0l

As mentioned above, to realise the full potential of this powerplant, both in power, and in longevity the fuel requirement is 91 Octane, and 93 is recommended.

The manual says that you need a minimum of 91 AKI/95 RON (Premium fuel in Trinidad).

My post was for a WRX, not the BRZ...
As the rep said, the brz has a higher compression and would require premium.
Also, if u detect knocking on the WRX, you are required to increase your octane as per the manual.

the inside of the gas lid on the brz says it requires 98RON. premium runs fine with a little adjustment to timing and AFR
