Engine swaps

Now from what I understand, is that modifying a ts for example swapping a ts internals with an sti is fround upon in the subie community.
They even go as far as giving the impression if you do a swap the car will blow up on you not too long after.
What I want to know is what is the real risk of swapping, what are the real issues I may be faced with after the conversation?

i think the biggest issue is competence of person carrying out the job as well as not taking short cuts...

get a donor vehicle and swap everything across, unless you have a very competent mechanic, remove harness and reinstall complete from donor
