WTK: Bearing 2003 protege

Postby nareshseep » August 20th, 2008, 6:01 pm

Hey guys looking for the bearings for the rear for my girlfriend 2003 SDM sedan protege, went to price it and people told me that you have to buy the entire hub for ~$300. apparently I think this is causing the rear tyre to wear unevenly, apart from faulty shocks (this what the alignment people told her) you guys have any ideas what may cause this uneven wear.

the shocks would have caused the bearing to fail
jack up the car put down the hand brake and spin the wheel if you find it hard to move or sounding like grit in it then its the bearing
you can change the bearing alone in the rear but you better off changing the hub IMHO

if it can be changed, you can never be better off buying a used hub IMHO

i hope the alignment ppl is not masterserv...see if changing the shocks solves the problem first, bad shocks can cause uneven tire wear, i was getting some of that, but changing the shocks solved that problem.

Thanks for the info guys. The people tell me its the substitute hub, and I not into buying substitute parts.. a friend of mines told me the bearings I can get at Lange in chaguanas. What the normal price for a brand new hub?
