mazda bt50 which gear oil to use?

im about to change my clutch and pressure plate and was wondering which oil and brand is best suited for the 2009 bt50

mechanic recommended

Castrol 80w 90


friends and fellow ppl who changed their said amsoil and belray


whats ur opinion?

none of those are good for mazda..use redline gear oil and diff oil, mazda uses brass synros in there system the other oils has additives that breakdown the brass causing premature shifts, gear popping out etc. it is sold by s khan and car boutique in st james ..or any other performance shop .

thanks zacs...

other tuners recommended the Castrol... that they change about 50 - 60, 000km...


wats the price for a quart of redline?

Gl5 has sulfur which damage brass. Gl4 doesnt

its a bit pricey but its around 75 dollars a quart..it is the gl4 thats rec for mazda

i found this manual, but it says GL5 not GL4 :|

even though it says gl5 , its not good for the gearbox..gl4 is safe for all mazda or any gearbox that has brass synchro in the set up..

ok so GL4 in the gearbox SAE 90. the same throughout the diff/trans case?

and 20-40 engine oil

i'm looking to go amsoil everything btw.

yes you can use the gl4 in the diff/trans...use the redline engine oil as well,,,10w-30 is the recommended ..for engine

Is this the same for the B2500 2005 year model? Has anyone used Mobil1 synthetic 75W90 ?

valvoline lsd 75w90, i repair alot of gearboxes& transfer cases, this is what i use for the box and both front and rear diff,works exceptionally well compared to the other brands mentioned above....just my 2 cents
