Do not use water alone in your car, your heater pipe in the firewall will rust and start leaking...always use coolant...its meant to lubricate and keep engine at operating temp....water alone cools much better than coolant, so much so thst you will notice the temp guage reading change..causing the ecu to oush more gas or the thermostat to close...

firs of all, what does the owners manual recommend?
Too much bad advice in here
Willing to bet the Ranger requires an HOAT coolant...HOAT means Hybrid Organic Acid Technology, and relates to the specific chemistry of the coolant required. You also need something that is borate and phosphate free.....this oil-based thing is utter rubbish
Zerex Asian formula is an HOAT coolant and while it says 'asian' on the label, it should work in a ranger...

^^Correct currently using the asian vehicle in a ranger. When i upgrade radiator i will go Havoline/ Amsoil.Need to be silica free also(not little silica), cause remember its an aluminum engine block you have.

lol what does your owners manual say about oil change intervals?
Truth be told, any good synthetic can extend your oil drain, but it all depends on driving conditions....there can NEVER be a blanket claim that if you use our oil, you WILL get x or y more kms....that's just marketing booshheet.....a synthetic base oil can pretty much last forever, but additives get used up, deteriorate, contaminants get into the oil, oxidation occurs, sulphuric acid builds up.....without doing regular oil analysis, you gambling with your engine. I never understood why people sound so much money on a vehicle and then play cheap with maintenance.....
