The only reason I see for the severe service interval is if the dealer continues to use the shiddy dino oil and regular filter. Why not use a full synthetic? Even with excessive stop and go traffic high quality full synthetic oils and filters can easily do 10000kms. Platinum plugs go 100000kms.....belts 80-100K kms .... air filter 40,000kms .... brake/disc pads 60000kms .... and most other fluids require a change once per year. What the hell is the need for servicing these vehicles so often?
Swifted wrote:^sure you can do a 20,000KM service interval(like the euro cars) ...just plan on trashing the engine after a 3~4 years.
I applaud Lifestyle for their service interval revision! ...the conditions that our vehicles are subject to in this part of the world is quite severe in all categories(Ambient Air Temp. tarmac temperature, condition of roads, dust, bad roads ...and my personal favorite is the sitting & idling in traffic for several hours daily(this doesn't register on the ODO clock am I right?).
so, here is an example of what overdue service(excessively delayed service intervals) can do to your engine;
This vehicle(2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0L) has approx. 118,000KMs on the clock. There were several 15,000KM+ services carried out during its brief life(btw, 100,000KMs is NOT considered high mileage)
...and this is an example of how an on-time service interval will have your engine looking.
This vehicle(Suzuki Ignis Sport 1.5L) has approx. 180,000KMs on the clock and has always been serviced by Lifestyle ON TIME
...so there you have it. I prefer to have my engine last long, so I will continue with a schedule similar to what Lifestyle goes by.
