Good Day,

Would like to know if there is a 4x4 Diesel option for the Grand Vitara?

Not locally. I guess if you want one you can talk to them. The diesel version has a 1.9 Ddis turbo (built by Renault).

As indicated by Aidan, the diesel version of the Grand Vitara is not yet available to this region.

thanks man...hoping they do.......wonder if the price on the APV would decrease due to the van being discontinued...

this is such a nice all purpose vehicle...cant believe they discontinue it.....I am sure they must have a newer replacement.....like how the Liana was discontinued and replaced by the SX4......

norstar2k, is it that Suzuki motor corp discontinued those vehicles or is it that Lifestyle discontinued importing them. It doesn't seem logical that Suzuki motor corp would discontinue such new models already.

*$kїđž!™ , I'm pretty sure they will have something to replace the APV.

On another note, when we went to pickup our SX4, i saw some Mahindra pickups in lifestyle's yard, so I asked if they selling those and they told me that they were being road tested and may soon be imported for sale.

I am seriously considering a SGV as my next vehicle purchase, which won't be till early next year, but I would have liked to have an option with the sunroof and fabric seats.....I hate leather seats, especially in our climate.

Actually, the leather seats aren't as bad as you make think. Then again, there's leather and there's 'leather'. Leather does get hot but here's a good user example; considering it's 38°C in the UAE right now, they mainly drive all leather vehicles without issue.

There are different grades of leather to choose from such as automotive grade leather that meets OEM specs. Often times when you buy seat covers online they are better than original. The reason being only the "inserts" in OEM leather seat covers are leather while custom auto leather upholstery are all leather. Inserts are the part of the seat in the middle that you actually make contact with while sitting. The sides and the
back are simulated leather.

Leather seats are softer/more comfortable, maintain there overall structure and support over time, and is generally waterproof and spot resistant. Also, leather doesn't stain as easily as fabric and in the case of the SGV, its the only model option in which you can get the six airbags.

As for the sunroof (which I personally dislike), all leather models come with that standard, so hard luck dey. 8-)

We pay hefty prices in our showrooms and still get old versions. I cannot understand this madness. When I heard that this 2.0L SG Vitara is withdrawn, I searched and got this link.

http://www.carwale.com/research/marutis ... -1211.html

Same thing in USA (Texas at least). Probably our guys bringing in left out units or could not push out the stock on hold??

OFFICIAL REPLY FROM SUZUKI JAPAN:

"It is true that some countries like EU countries replaced Grand Vitara 2.0L model with 2.4L model so as to comply with strict emission regulations.

However, please note that we are now selling Grand Vitara 2.0L model in Caribbean islands, Chile, Brazil, Paraguay, Russia, Ukraine, Singapore, Malaysia etc. and we don’t have any plan to discontinue 2.0L model in those countries at this moment."

The rising value of the yen and won have a significant part to play in this.

Also, the MVT remains a killer. I'll give you and example, the MVT on my 2.4 SGV was $60k. Add the VAT of $41K, and you (horrendously) realize that my taxes totaled over $100K!!!
