rough idle... throttle hesitation at higher RPM

Postby Mini » April 23rd, 2013, 5:45 pm

Car serviced by LSM last Wednesday... no issues.

Filled up tank (from close to E) on Saturday... immediately noticed a hesitation at higher RPM (4000 RPM and above) after leaving gas station (new UNIPET Station.. so initially ruled out sediments in station storage tank).

Today.. hesitation more evident... idling rough now. No CEL, not overheating, no other problems.

Best way to describe it... remember those old time carburetted cars... when the gas filter was clogged... just like that.

I thinking it may be bad gas... but what about it.. water? sediments? Thinking to drop it off by LSM for them to have a look at.

I suspect accumulated sediment. Check fuel pressure and flow.

I have seen it several times myself

Taiwanese coilpacks available at jurawan's in Diego martin I think they were 350 for one and they sometimes last long, sometimes last 3 months.

Turned out to be the fuel. LSM drained the tank, cleaned the injectors, serviced the throttle body and checked the plugs. All back to normal now.

On another note... lodged a complaint to the service station's HO. They were quick to respond

Mr. Mohammed

As per telephone conversation, please provide me with the report from Life Style motors on the fuel quality. Once I have this report we can investigate further. We will also start our own internal investigation into that batch of fuel we received.

Regards

A few. Took the two off the engine that passed through my hands and still working fine. Right now I wish I took off the crank sensor which I think I damaged when tightening up the alternator belt but those aren't THAT expensive at LSM.

I also think I need engine mounts and those prices look good. Thanks for the heads up.

Just goes to show...you can double filter something that's sub-standard all day, its not gonna change the standard.

ONEPET....

This is why I didn't bother to respond to this thread initially.

Certain stations are alleged to mix diesel into the gasoline tanks.
Saw this happen to my uncle. Occurred at the Princes Town station where they put too much diesel into the premium.
Weed whacker refused to start.
Always found my car pinged more when I used their fuel too, but thought nothing of it until I saw the above.
Which is why I no longer support them.

Hope you kept a sample of the fuel.
