Start simple first. A loss of power problem that exist when the engine is cold only is most likely electrical, spark plugs, coil packs etc. If it occurs even after the engine has heated up, it's usually air or fuel. Check fuel filter/s and air filter first then go on to the above mentioned items.

Be careful with that assumption heat brings stress to electrical components. If you are looking at fuel and air injector's, valve train, numerous inputs have to also be considered. Is it a loss of power or a hesitation?

That is not the assumption being made, in fact the assumption being made is that the heat will aid with ignition of the fuel, hence the problem appears to go away after the engine heats up!

OK if that's the path, we have to consider that modern cars with high compression, high pressure multiple port injection burn leaner so building heat to aid in combustion is not much of a challenge as it was in carbureted.

I'm not trying to prove anyone wrong but I'm working with a paragraph on a screen. I didn't see prolonged power loss when cold/hot so for now I can't choose the diagnostic path through temp. Feel free to challenge or question anything I say don't take my word for it.

I thought it down by you already. Sorry OP. I guess hesitation and power loss may not mutually exclusive. Power loss cause hesitation or hesitation seen as power loss. Possibilities are:
Input screwing up tps, cam/ crank etc.
Output screwing up eg coils injector
Mechanical valves etc
PCM bad
