Yeah it also reminds me a bit of the new X1 which is almost X3 sized now.

Feel ill go look at the new model, current Tig I have isn't bad at all, with the exception of trunk space which I rectified with a roof rack from Thule

I hope the engine a bit more fuel efficient ... I find this older model does drink gas.

Never actually checked but it feels somewhere around 3k.

When I get some free road I'll test it out.

3000 kinda late though.. Spec sheet saying max torque from 1700, so I assuming boost coming in around there. Thats the 2012 2.0 DSG

Maybe is transmission lag I feeling from the torque converter then.
Cause it way less engaging to drive than the dsg in the Jetta. I does never even use the tip tronic cause it feels numb but it is good vs other auto transmission I have driven.

Anyone ever did a decarbonizing of valves in their tsi ? or any cleaning of sorts for the intake..
or had to drain their intercooler.

Nope... but after you do, invest in an oil catch can.

According to how bad you think ya valves are, once it not too bad ya can try out the "italian tune" method which can be found online.

Basically running ya car 500rpm below redline for say 10 to 20mins. I tried it and found no noticeable difference as my crank case breather filter is the updated one which prevents oil from going into intake. Just has slight, very light vapour residue in the intake, but its not wet so my valves should be clean after 27k miles

lol italian tune.

I had cleaned my throttle body and intake sometime ago @ 40k and it wasn't so bad. But the oily residue was there coating everything, I would love to take a look at my valves tho @ 60k miles.

I looked at a catch can but could not find one with all the correct fittings and mounting parts for the 1.4 tsi. Would require some work. You came across any ?

Also read that they wont solve the dirty valve problem per say since gas/oil sometimes pass the valve seal and still coats valves. But it does keep your intake, throttle body clean and less gunk gets in your intercooler etc.

Got another issue with my car right now but looking into this soon.

PS. This is a CON of tsi and gdi engines.

Not sure why you laugh at "italian tune" but from before and after pics I saw on a tsi engine...that sheit works...

I sell the catch cans for tsi engines....but you can use any cheap ebay one but you need to do slight mods to the crank case breather plumbing..

Run a hose immediately from crank breather to catch can...then from catch can to pcv check valve (same side the crank hose would commect to).

That what u read is about still getting oil and gas on the intake valves are not really truer for newer version cavd and cthd engines which has newer injector spray partterns than 2006 to early 2009 models which functioned like a lawn sprinkler...your +2009 would not have that issue so much like the earlier fsi engines which had egr function....the tsi has no egr which is partially how it acheives greater economy than earlier versions.

If you do get oil on intake valves your seals maybe gone and you would get additional smoke when u kick down, not to mention piston failure from reduced octane.

Dont laugh at this ratchifee eh...this was earlier stages...but the clear vinyl hose just after the crank tube?

This is where you connecting a hose directly to,then run to catch can inlet...
Run a hose from outlet of catch can back to the pcv valve (other vinyl hose after black plastic tubing in middle)

Hope this helps

Yes it does thanks. I will be looking at my intake pipes and attempt manifold removal next weekend. Heard it takes a long time and is alot of work. I hope the injectors on my mid 2010 is the new ones that don't have that spray issue.. I doubt since I have no fuel pressure issues and stuff.

Have to figure out the size and diameter for the catch can setup. eg size of pcv piping end to catch can, then size of end that goes into the intake to recirculate the blow by oil free vapour. Will know more when I dive in.

Its 3/4 inch tube you need but only the crank breather section you interfering with...leave the one from tappet cover to just after air filter as the check valve sufficiently blocks liquid oil from getting into the air plumbing

Another thing there were at least 3 revisions of injectors the current one being in the cthd engine...switch to bkriex7 ngk iridium plugs as the hotter spark avoids gas from quenching the spark upon ignition (this is how misfire occurs)

Hotter than what exactly..... only bringing it up as I know the 7 heat range plug is considered a cold plug.

The spark energy is considered hotter but it is a "colder" plug which just means the ability to transfer heat from the combustion chamber is increased versus stock "6" oem plugs

Anyone know where I can get some remediation body work for my interior? Due to extensive parking in the heat the roof lining starting to become unstuck and bulging. Want to nip it in the bud early

Has nothing to do with parking in the heat. Woulda drop anyways. Check Michael 759-7264. Located in San Fernando just off Coffee Street. He does warranty work for BA with respect to interiors.

Interesting, when BA was busy selling me the jetta they said resin/glue used on the fabric was changed with this current model jetta. Salesman said that should eliminate this problem.
