It's easy to do bro, just invest in a piston caliper wind back tool, spline & torx bits, can't recall size off hand, but should be same as Jetta

If you serviced with them regularly they should put in the claim to VW and see the response.

Well....car failed the oil consumption test..engine rebuild needed..they trying to put together a case to see if vw Germany will cover the cost..only doing 60,000 miles.
Even if they do cover it it'll be down for a month

Most likely VW will cover some if not all. If they offer pittance you can ask BA to submit again.

I've read online where persons reject VW's offer to cover a portion and then VW to come back with a drastically better offer like full cost of parts and 90% labour for example.

Lol if they offer you something it is because they recognize they are liable in some way. Is not Trinidad where is take it or spite. The most they will do is just not up the offer but they won't reduce it if you reject it.

Alternatively they may see you as a loyal customer so they will offer something to keep you. Like if you always servicing by BA basically.

Well let's..just got the beautiful call from bess auto..apparently they said the can't do the rebuild because they are not sure of what is causing the oil to burn. And vw Germany in initial talks with them suggest the route of a new engine.however the car is 5yrs old now so they don't think they would cover the full amount..BTW new cost of an engine is 180k
So frustrated right now

Uh... 180k is probably close to the value of the car at this age.

Even so, at 5 years old and the car needs a new engine??

BA doesn't know what the issue is but VW leaning towards a new engine? Yeah right. I find that hard to believe that VW wouldn't ask the dealer to strip down the engine and inspect the cylinder walls, pistons and piston rings especially if the dealer told them they don't know what the issue is.

Who told you this? A sales person, customer rep or a technical person?

Well... they have been known for misdiagnosing problems and suggesting costly repairs that don't actually solve the problem.

Refer to $25K steering rack replacement that didn't solve my problem, but a free software update did.

Last time, all three came together to tell me that the solution was to replace the steering rack.

Lisa and Charles were cool, but they basically echoed everything Stephen said.
Not trying to burst your bubble, but that was just my experience.

You might need to push a little more though, esp considering that you still serviced and repaired by them.

The PCV Valve, crank case vent and seal, piston rings and possibly pistons need to be changed. There was a TSB out for the oil consumption which Audi has admitted that there is indeed a problem with the oil consumption of this engine (had to do with the turbo). If you change those parts I mentioned and have the ECU reprogrammed you're almost as good as new.
