Yup also heard that they will be costing around 270K ish from my contacts

Skoda is done here because they cannot compete with price.

ask yourself a simple question ... would you pay 275K for a octavia after seeing the competition and their prices?

Depends on what's in the Octavia to be honest. A 275K octavia should be a fully specced model that would be faster than a Jetta, A1, A class or 1 series, can park itself, has better fuel economy than all previously mentioned with all the bells and whistles missing from the previously mentioned.

Yeah but skoda does not have the same badge rep here as mercedes, audi or BMW. Image counts alot for people here in T&T.

True good point. Especially in that price bracket.

Why do sterling use gulf oil in Octavia? I've switched to Schaeffer‘s 9000 fully synthetic 5W30 oil $90/qt best oil ever.....

Don't see a VW/Audi/Skoda spec. here on the Schaeffer's 9000 5W30 oil.

I know Gulf has an approved VW/Audi/Skoda approved spec. formula.

What oil does gulf recommend to use in the Octavia?based on my research any fully synthetic 5w30 oil would work . I didn't know that gulf had a special oil for sKoda...

I did not say they have a special oil for Skoda, I said they have an approved oil meeting VAG specs., the Gulf Formula GVX 5W-30.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q ... 0277,d.aWw

For me whilst 5W30 is stated to be used, I prefer to stick with a 5W30 that is manufacture spec.

I really don't get volkswagen group here. The new golf and Octavia can't be brought in at attractive price points ( somewhere around 270) yet they have an A3 at 290? Which has a larger engine and incurs more mvt. No wonder audi rakes in the lion share of profits for the group.
