Proper Coolant change procedures

Postby purple_heart77 » November 2nd, 2013, 1:43 pm

Anyone has in their possession or can direct me to any article/video for the proper procedure to do a coolant change on a VW.

Getting the air out of the system I don't see in some articles. So If there exist the correct way in any article you all came across, appreciate the help.

Thanks

Is there a particular model you are changing the coolant on?

If it's model specific there might be a maintenance manual on this forum.

The procedure to change coolant is to find the air bleed screw after you refill with a very high quality coolant and preferably distilled water. Blue waters will do. Use a high quality coolant like the OEM for your car, Zerex, Delo or VW/Audi original purple or pink coolant. Avoid $20 coolant. If you cant find the bleeder screw, then start the car after you have renewed the coolant in the car, and leave the cap off for about 15 minutes. That should bleed out the air from the system.
