Please do not use pentosin.

in my opinion 10w40 is designed for a colder climate than trinidad.

Mobil 1 is good as well.

After seeing the internals of 2 engines of persons using the oil. lots of buildup. 'chocolate brownie' is the term one fella used to describe it. greasy/waxy coating on everything. his oil light was coming on.

but thats just two engines (german).

not enough to point fingers. but i aint taking the chance. just relating my experiences.

Gool,

What type of car, mileage and was it burning oil too?

I have a B6 Passat 1.8T 100k Km, 8 yrs and have been using the 10W40 Pentosin for almost 4 yrs, no oil burning issues, colour changes gradually until 10K km oil change. VW spec. of course, quite happy. That being said, I don't know what is going on inside the engine, I can only assume all is good based on what I can see.

This car will do 10 to 15 mins on the highway if I ever go, mainly short runs to the grocery, which I believe is even harder on the car/oil.

Just trying to understand the bad experience from your reports if you have more details.

Thanks.

one of the cars was an 03' or 04' vw bora. mileage was way lower than 100k but i cannot remember how much exactly. the person had no issues they just needed to change their cam cover gasket. when they saw what was goin on under the cover they were really shocked. this prompted an inspection of the sump pan oil strainer which also had deposits on it. and was partially clogged.

you can remove your cover and visually inspect. and if it looks clumpy and waxy you can probably try a good engine flush. or two..........

the main thing is avoiding a drop in oil pressure via restrictions.

Used Pentosin for a while but switched to Royal Purple racing. Got it from https://www.facebook.com/Ryse1mportsTT/?ref=hl.

Returned the power to my car. E90
