VW Touareg

Postby TrinbagoMan » June 29th, 2017, 7:11 pm

Any owners or reviews on the Volkswagen Touareg. Specifically the 2007-2008 model. I am considering one.

I think it is a 2.5 tdi diesel engine.

any assistance will be appreciated.

Just adding to the 'difficult to repair' theme:

All accessories in the 2.5 5 cylinder are driven from the flywheel end of the engine which is insanely un-accesible so the simplest repair [ like changing the cush-drive on the AC Compressor] is pretty costly as its better to change a handful of things while you are in there.
Just one look inside the engine bay and you'd understand.
These SUVs are pretty cheap right now, but I won't recommend it unless you are a mechanic, or at least getting the 3.0lTDV6 equipped model (same as the Q7) which is still kettle vs frying pan :|

Start away from the 3.0 V6 diesel. You will regret it

The 3.0 v6 in the q7, and touareg cant survive on Trinidad's quality diesel.
Thats why the dealerships dont carry those anymore. plenty plenty lix.
now understand what i said clearly... i never said they are shitty engines or trouble engines. the problem is the diesel.

the 2.5 diesel is a bit more capable of handling our diesel quality. but still..... ..

the best ever touareg is a petrol. Massy brought in only one. and that one still pumpin! just goes in for regular maintenence and wear and tear issues.

and as far as i am aware they suffer no transmission issues.
