I got the Wagner QuickStop (ZD1522) off Amazon a couple months ago. These work well and I get no noise or brake dust to worry about.

Hi, Nice to see Cruze owners linking up. I own a 2013 1.6 cruze LT. I am looking to add some power to it. I am either going to a. turbocharge the existing 1.6, or b. bring in a 1.4T engine and transmission and modify it before installing. I'm looking for a good mechanic/tech to install and tune for me, and I'm looking for someone to bring in the engine for me, if I could with option b.

Any suggestions?

CHEVROLET OWNERS FAMILY JOIN UP!!! CLICK HERE

Postby agent007 » June 26th, 2017, 8:59 pm

Killersuzuki, unfortunately the 1.6 LXT ETEC2 motor in your car does not have much options for upgrading in terms of bumping hp and torque. Going NA makes no sense as the stock 6T30 transmission is too weak to handle any performance gains sufficient enough for you to feel like it was worth it. Turbocharging the LXT is also very impractical and not advisable and even if you do this successfully, your engine will be a ticking time bomb.

You do however have a few options:

1. Keep your car stock and original. This would ensure optimum resale value as this is critical especially since it's not a Toyota or Nissan ie. A high resale value car
2. If you want to swap out the engine, don't bother going to the 1.6 LDE ECOTEC DCVCP engine as even that motor whilst more impressive than the LXT still makes no sense (good luck finding one locally as no Cruze has it but instead, it's found in the Sonic (yes the 1.6 Sonic is more powerful than the 1.6 Cruze). You can swap to the 1.8 ECOTEC DCVCP 2H0 engine (Opel Z18XER) found in some 1.8 LS and LT Cruze's and you would enjoy a healthy bump in HP from 107 to 139 and torque from 150Nm to 176Nm. Again good luck finding a 1.8 since LSM stopped importing them due to the increased MVT a while ago and thus are extremely rare. If you do get a front cut from a local wreck then grab it up quick. The performance difference between LXT and 2H0 is like night and day.
3. Import the 1.4T found in the Cruze which is the same unit found in the Trax. You can tune it with light mods. (Not to be confused with the new 1.4t in the 2017 Cruze which is a totally different engine despite same cc). Be prepared to go all the way with this one as the 1.4t has EPS so be prepared to swap out the entire steering rack assembly as well and the transmission is 6T40 not 6T30. Manual would be better obviously.
4. If you really want to be different then get the 1.6 DOHC ECOTEC turbo that is found in the Australian and New Zealand markets under the name "Holden Cruze"
5. Refer to point 1 but sell your car and get the 2017 Cruze which will be launched locally on Saturday 8th July. It's actually a faster car than the 1.6T Holden Cruze and your power requirement would be satisfied. The 2017 Cruze is lighter by 200lbs thereabouts yet its stiffer, stronger and more aerodynamic and the output is 153hp and 240Nm torque mated to a new and improved 6T35 transmission.

Cheers.

Nice cars there Nyron!

Questions:

Did LSM kick up a fuss with you installing the double DIN stereo kit, lit door sill/scuff plates and the upgraded wheels in terms of electrical and suspension warranty?

Now that my warranty just came to an end, I'm thinking to do some ICE, I/H/E/tune, 18x8 wheels, rear LED lights and front projectors with DRL's. But considering the cash money required to do that, I'm tempted seriously so simply sell the gen1 and get the new gen2 and start fresh from there. Kinda not making sense to plunk down all that cash in a 4.5yr old car and it won't enhance the resale value much. Decisions.
