Noting much........ just a number of armchairs meteorologists making pronouncements on current proceedings, including one guy who says Trinidad has a shield which deflects Hurricanes and Tropical Storms (kid you not check back the posts and see).

I could explain the shield inno.. loool

It has to do with convection, gravitational forces acting along the fault lines, and pressure systems associated with the traversing winds from sea to large land masses. The shield it builds is like a wall for systems moving in a linear fashion. Would take a very strong system to outright pass straight through it.

Imagine a top made out of north pole magnet, set to spin and moving towards a wall made of the same north pole magnet. As the spinning top approaches the wall it gets deflected by the repulsion effect of 2 north pole magnets meeting and is unable to pass through.

But if the spinning top has a really strong north pole magnet in comparison to the wall, then it might pull at metallic or southpole magnets on the other side of the wall and cause a calamity. This is what i call the tunneling effect. Invisible forces and phenomenon acting to create pretty much a quantum tunnel link between eachother. Wreaking havoc on both sides of the shield/wall.

The shield/wall however, can assist in stifling small developing systems inside the shielded area, kinda like lighting a fire in a bucket and then covering it with the lid. But if the main system outside, feeding the fire enough gas in the bucket through a hose, then the lid wont have the same stifling effect on the flames.

How true is this???.

That one is less developed compared to Mathew at the same location, plus ocean temps will be down (which hinder development) as Mathew just passed over those areas.

Given that it's unlikely to develop into anything cyclonic (by the time it reaches or longitude) the odds of it moving northward will decrease. Which means we may be in for some rain and flooding over the weekend.

Latest sat images show what looks like the main system has split off sending a significant wave southwards over trinidad. So that is what we're experiencing right now. Main storm is continuing WNW with what appears to be haiti in it's sights for hurricane lvl event. Boths gusts and movement speed of matthew have decreased by about 8-10% so the split took away some of it's momentum.
