I would mind setting up a planted tank as well bit the Oscars and venustus cichlids that I have in this one are my babies

The Oscars are about 7-8 inches and the venustus are about 5-6 inches

Every time I try to upload a pic of em this trinituner app says i need to be logged in Lmao

You might want to check Ashton glass in penal for the aquarium, they don't know how to talk to ppl and my tank was delayed a few days but they do some real Bess work,

tank looks great everything straight and strong, hell I does have that thing with 23" of water right thru just like in the pic

I don't think plants and big cichlids are a good idea.....them does push round big stone like nothing...worse yet for gravel and green fragile things.

What kind of filters you guys use for your cichlids, particularly oscars? I have 2 Whisper bio filters which I have to clean every 2-3 days, pretty damn annoying.

I know a canister filter is what I need but any recommendations?

I have two Eheim canister filters each rated for up to 160 gallons, better over filter than under lol

I find the eheim to be of high quality and it performs great without spending extra for these "big brand filters "

Ohhh I forgot to add I clean them like once a month but I perform twice weekly 45% water changes

Just got some small oscars and plan on doing a DIY wet/dry trickle filter with a separate chamber to house some duckweed for nitrate removal. Initially planned on using a spare 55g glass tank and using plexi for the baffles. Either that or building a Bakki tower.

This DIY aqua stuff is addictive!

Fluval makes good canister filters and are cheap on amazon when compared to canisters locally.

Yup the fluval 406 is $199 and it's only rated up to 100 gallon tanks

Where as the eheim that I have is $143 and that is rated for up to 159 gallon tanks

With fluval you pay more for name

Fluval prices raised over the last couple months I have no idea why. An Fx5 is almost $100 US more now compared to when I bought it last June and the Fx6 is $330. If you don't want to spend the cash behind canisters grab a couple aquaclear 110 HOBs.
