Standing or new wave

Postby SNIPER 3000 » September 12th, 2009, 9:49 am

I did the search, but it did not help.
Which is better standing or new wave, is Damus the only company selling standing? What is the cost of the standing?
Please share your views

Thanks.

I personally prefer the standing, but i like the new wave. I prefer the new wave actually. Come to think about it i like both, how bout New standing, or standing wave... how bout a new surfboard for the wave.

sigh...

I went with standing seam.........no screws punching thru the sheets to leak in years to come........system is a more secure attachment to the structure IMHO
Cost? I know Standing seam is more expensive but the best option is to work it out per square foot for both options and compare.......

and yeah, bought it by Damus
also if you have a gable roof or combo hip and gable, there's gable flashing available...looks very good
our roof is dark grey with white guttering. The plain grey flashing on the gable looks weird against the white guttering on the hip, so i gonna put some white gable flashing on both gables, to match the guttering.....Damus did not mention it so I din know about it until I saw it on another house

galvanise options

Postby trinivampire » July 30th, 2014, 6:31 pm

hi, I did not want to create a new thread, but hope I get my question answered.

I am going to change my roof from shingles to metals and wanted to get someone opinion on the different galvanize options.

the quotes below was taken from bhagwansingh's and jus for referencing(would most likely buy from r maye)
26 gauge nu wave painted 18" $314.85
26 gauge plain and nu wave 18" $279.45
28 gauge plain and nu wave 18" $227.70

I would need 12-18'' and 35-15", how important is the galvanise thickness? and the contractor recommend the plain galvanise, since he says coated galvanise gets moss and that reduce the life. So plain vs nu wave vs nu wave coated?

Any opinions will be appreciated, I want to buy the material by weekend. Thanks

Maye sheets changing colour real quick ( I did one building in red and one in dark gray and both of them faded within two to three months) Did one last year May with material from Varma and it held out good. Also used Ramkal's and it faded. GGI, Lifetime and Roofman has good material.

This info is only for coloured sheets, if it's unpainted you wont have fading or moss problems.
Use 26g ,the 28 is too thin, so it sinks and gets damaged even while handling and installing.

A lot of the cheaper suppliers buy chinese material which is inferior and their thickness is not what they say. Their 28g is probably around 29 and the 26 is also thinner than 26g. The owner of Varma's explained the system to me ,showing me the difference in thickness, and he buys from Australia, which has the superior material.

If you are investing in a roof , it is very costly and should last years, you should do some research, and also go with a company that offers a warranty on their material.

Make sure it's PVDF coated to prevent the roof from turning black. Check Damus

I didn't like the thin gauge of R Maye's decking pan and roof sheeting. I went with Damus instead. Vry pleased. Lifetime is also v. good but they didn't have the colour I needed in a hurry.
