Where can you get good Steak Cuts eg rib eye, tomahawk, cowboy

Postby Pablo660 » October 22nd, 2016, 11:02 am

What meat shops do you recommend for good cuts of beef, I prefer bigger cuts like t bone, cowboy or even tomahawk (22oz) lol
I'm looking for the like usda prime, choice even select
Also anyone knows where sells Kobe cuts here?

Or local, I'm open to try what a local steak will taste like lol
What about the local buffalypso ?

I can recommend premium meats in Couva for lamb chops. Frozen chops there have an excellent quality and for $100 I can get about 10-12 chops depending on the thickness
I prefer thicker cuts too

I doubt anybody sells prime grade meat locally, blooms claimed to have had kobe at one time.
Malabar prices will be close to 50% more than Blooms

best options for money belly tastes are Blooms, Arties, Malabar in order of price

Blooms usually has cowboy ribeye and the other popular cuts

I bought an entire short loin from blooms the other day, split it with a friend,
we each got about 7 tbone/porterhouse
this was the fullest porterhouse almost same on both sides

I been watching his stuff on fb,
personally i find he overcooks his steaks and they appear to be on the thin side(1/2-3/4")
maybe that is just his customer preference

Will definitely try them out,
Anyone ever dry age your steak?
I saw even 4-9 days makes a difference .Also reverse searing a steak
Best steak I've had locally was Prime a long time ago but I saw Krave on Tuesdays has steak nights

I buy from the butcher shop all the time. I don't buy already cooked meals from him because i think steak should just be rubbed with salt and black pepper only and he puts his own rub on it.

From his butcher shop you can order your cuts any size you want. I order 2" ribeye and tenderloin already. The ribeye had really nice marbling and came out great on my cast iron rill

the type of beef is what makes the difference....local beef gets stiff when cooked...not enough fat marbled...

local cattle tend to be milk producing type, not for meat
but you can still use pressure cooker OR
soak for a little while in baking soda
which is what chinese restaurants do, will be tasteless though

me too. But marbling is what we all know makes a great tasting cut and just look at the marbling fat distribution on the US$306 piece, it's like ground beef with fat everywhere, that has to taste awesome.

He doesnt use mcormic rubs just the bottles
Local beef needs a lot of butter on it when grilling and even then its still a hit an miss with it becoming chewy

No amount of marbling will make up for muscle tissue that ain't tender
I've bought local beef that looked much more marbled than foreign cuts and still were like truck tires.

There are a number of issues - breed of cattle, age, feed, lack of aging the meat after slaughter etc.

It's a shame nobody talks about how good local beef is, buffalypso is amazing.

Tasted just like McCormick seasoning, but he also put a set of what tasted like McCormick vegetable gravy mix on the plate too.
Asked for medium, got a steak that was more medium well/well done. Ironic because he was happy when we asked for medium.

Meh.. not worth the price/drive. Blooms grocery steaks are better.
