Mortal Machines, is the surprising new adventure of the director Christian Rivers (King Kong), winner of the Oscar for visual effects. Along with Rivers, are the three-time winners of the Academy Award for the Trilogy of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, who have written the script. The adaptation of Universal and MRC is from Philip Reeve's award-winning series of books, published in 2001 by Scholastic.
On board as the producers are Zane Weiner (The Hobbit Trilogy) and Deborah Forte (Nightmares), as well as Walsh and Jackson. Ken Kamins (Trilogy The Hobbit) joins Boyens as executive producer.
Universal will distribute the film throughout the world
