Maybe you can contact the agents for tekton and see if they can point you to a set because honestly, i never saw another set like this for sale anywhere but lm sure there is...

Hello!
New DIY-er here. I have two questions on resourcing materials if you don't mind helping me out with some tips.

I am looking for a good place for buying woodscrews and bolts and nuts in bulk for a good price. Now I usually go to Peaks but it seems a bit pricey (just based on that most of their stuff seems pricey).

An even bigger issue for me is finding steel to fabricate small furniture like table frames and also a welding table. LIke 1x1" or 1x2", solid bars etc. Usually, they sell these in 12' or 16' lengths that is not only too much for me but impossible to transport.
Are there any places that sell scraps or offcuts? Or places that cut it up for you? I would even look at scrapyards if I would know of any.

Thank you!

Steel lengths are usually 19.5 feet or so
Better you organize transport and big extra and clean and prime and store until needed

Did you buy this online on homdepot and send to skybox or did you physically buy in store? Reason I ask is that homdepot online does not seem to take non-US issued credit cards.

Just today I bought some square tube and black pipe and they all specified that they are 5.8m (19’). So it seems they coming shorter and shorter.
Bolt and nut, screws. Check SWS. Southern whole sale.

IMHO sandblasting isn't a viable DIY option at home. The neighbours will shut you down in a hurry... & rightly so!
Even 'soda' will generate too much dust at home... btw NEVER use 'sand' for blast media... it causes silicosis!
A safer alternative is 'recycled glass.' I'm requesting quotations next week for 3 grades. I need a pallet (40+ bags) for the projects. If interested call me (Wade @ 684-4552).
Sanctifier wrote:How are you going to 'derust' INSIDE the 'chassis rails' & 'box sections' and between the 'pinch welds'?
If you don't, it will come back to bite you very soon... Image
Check Metal Blast (by Rustbullet.) It's expensive... but the alternative is Electrolysis (see thread.) I'm going there because I have 4 body-shells to do (so it's cheaper than commercial waterblasting)... but don't know if you want to go that crazy.

Bro, bought a hobby kit and want to try it out did you get the medium and if so cost for about 50 lbs.

Coincidentally, I am looking to invest in a steamer. Go on Amazon and look at the Wagner 915 or the McCulloch 1275.

You can get an equivalent Chinese inverter which is basically same as that machine for about $900 landed via seabox. A dewalt or good name grinder is about $800 could be wrong.
An electronic helmet I think is also around $700 locally.
The Chinese unit will come with short leads though. So factor a couple hundred for longer leads locally

So you could get equivalent for about $1000 or better off with an auto darkening helmet too.

One thing, that miller has open voltage of 91v
The generic Chinese inverters are around 60v, they are sometimes a little harder to strike arc at low settings because of that compared to say a transformer welder. I have never used that miller so don't know if the extra 30v will make it easier to strike. But once you learn to weld properly it's not an issue really.

Either would be excellent. I use Bosch and Milwaukee and both are on par.

Milwaukee has the slight advantage of having more bare tools available.
