Got a light duty belt sander. Making some outdoor benches so they will need some sanding to even things out and the 1/4 sheet sander not up to that.

$560 TTD delivered from Amazon. Think Allied has the same or similar one but not sure of the cost.

Skil 7510-01 3x18 inch

^^ Use a belt with a finer grit than what you are accustomed to with a pad sander. It will last longer and give you a better finish. Start at a lower speed and increase it a little as the belt starts to wear and you won't need to worry much about rapid material removal.

I have never used a 3"x18" belt sander. I have always used 3"x21".

i found the random oribital can replace the 1/4sheet
and they have more control with variable speed

The upside of a 1/4 sheet (I prefer 1/3 sheet) is that you can get abrassives almost anywhere. I don't believe that I have ever owned a sander that wasn't variable speed so I can't speak to that.

You can't beat a random orbital for surface finishing and polishing, though.

Or Bhagwansingh. They have new stock of Campbell Hausfeld air tools, compressors and oil.

What type of finish you used?
I suggest sapping the bottom of legs with epoxy to seal any water absorbing up the legs

It's on rubber feet and the end grain pasted with epoxy wood glue. Finished with Flood CWF-UV5.

I wanted to know also. I was also wondering if the beams were glued together (laminated). I did something similar with finished 2x6. They were so heavy that when I sold the house, I left them there.

4x4 dressed and pressure treated. Really ends up as 3 1/2 x 3 1/2. Around $150 per 12 foot length at Bhagwansingh. 2 benches used 5 lengths. Glued and bolted straight through with 3/8 galvanized threaded rod.

Not bad at all for a sturdy bench
It’s the labour time that is consuming
And well usually in projects like these best to build two one time

Where can I buy scaffolding clamps locally? I need to replace a few for 1.9" O.D. pipe (1-1/2" nominal).
