Google it a single GTX 460 almost matches a GTX 470. And beats the 465 GTX in a number of benchmarks.
I suggest you go with 3 GTX 460 in SLI buy the 768MB versions for $200 US
Thats a lovely $600 US well spent. Not sure if it beats a single 5970 4GB super OC though. But the gtx 460 runs cool enough to give the 5970 a dread Overclocking competition.
From reading benchmarks I highly doubt you want to overclock a 480 GTX. You might burn down your house seriously. Plus the 460 uses much less current than the 480 nd 470 so you can use ur current PSU no need to go waste more money on more powerful PSU. You better off spending da money on a 80GB intel SSD than buying a new PSU
Gotta shop smart.

The GTX 460 is only two way sli dude. The 1GB version is all round better to buy since it has a wider memory bus interface than the 768MB version.
As well as two GTX 460s in dual SLi mode have been tested and found to be just second in line to the ATi Radeon HD 5970 on most occassions. Go figure.
Now for those of you who are hellbent overclockers and unlockers like mehself ....
there is an MSI GTX 465 Twin Frozr Gold edition card that has been proven to unlock via a GTX 470 BIOS flashing to a full fledged GTX 470 .
However chances of finding one of these cards are quite rare cuz they're sold out at most e-tailers because of this bonus feature.
But you all have to realize that everyone's mileage will vary be it GPU overclocking or CPU undervolting. Use those online articles as a reference guide when purchasing new hardware to get an idea of their potential.
