Yeah I now seeing the price wow over $1200 US

GTX 480 in SLI works really well and better than crossfire right now but if ATI releases a new Driver that kills the SLI well you would be wishing you had bought 2 HD 5870 or 2 HD 5970

you will come out cheaper and faster in the end.

Here look a link only $650 US for a HD 5970

http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-5970-Video-Card/dp/B003E1XH4S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1282842174&sr=8-2

I mean lets be real you gonna save a lot of money and you maxing out anything with a 5970 over clocked.

These ATI cards also use less current and produces less heat. You won't need to buy a NEW PSU ur current one will work.

The Eyefinity is much better than Nvidia 3D vision thing. I seen 3D and it don't impress me I prefer clean graphics in a multi monitor setup.

Aside from graphics am in the market for a new SSD am gonna pack up my x-25 v and switch to the OCZ Agility 2 what are your views on OCZ in the SSD market

Mind you the OCZ has one of Highest Score for a SSD ever tested
Sequential Access - Read: up to 285MB/s
Sequential Access - Write: up to 275MB/s

Virus I saw it at a friend's PC he has the 3D kit. Really not impressive at all sure at first its somewhat impressive but after a while it ain't all that and it really did not show as clean as the monitor without glasses. I really don't like to wear glasses neither.

The ATI eyefinity wins here if you compare 3 24 inch monitors in super widescreen and you compare the nvidia 3d on one monitor you will easily pick the 3 monitor setup.

Dirt 2 is frecking amazing on 3 monitor setup.

I had a intel 40GB SSD and it was like using a super computer with almost pure ram.

everything opens in a blink of an eye.

Its an awesome experience but its very costly and 40GB was not enough for me. But once you use it once its hard to go back.

Its like going from floppy disk to hard drive thats how awesome the experience is.

I think i got all i could get out of my x-25 v and now i feel like i want something faster LOL its tweaked so i get all disc space cold boot in only 15sec runs like a dream but i see there are new ones with more space for around the price i paid earlier this year the x-25 is like 98USD now as opposed to 125+when it was launched

Havent seen the The ATI eyefinity yet but its crazy cool i think i will in about a few months sell out my 3d kit and start over with ATI

Yeah right now ATI simply is the best. Best thing ever happened to them was when AMD buy them over. Ever since the AMD release the HD 3870X2 there was no stopping them.

Also the HD 5000 series aka evergreen is significantly more effecient than Nvidia's GTX 480 offering

I am not interested in buying a 1200W PSU just to run 3 480GTX in Tri SLI when I can have the option of running Dual HD 5970 in Crossfire for Less and powering it with a 750 W PSU at the same time.

Not only would you save a ton of money on unecessary PSU upgrade but you will also save a good bit on your T&TEC bill. Also due to the fact the HD 5870 etc run much much cooler than the GTX 480 this means you can significantly overclock the HD 5870 and 5970 etc.

If you have the cash, 4 ATI HD 5870X2 4GB in Crossfire would make you king for a long time to come. I believe its called quad crossfire. But you hadda be real rich to shell out da kinda cash. lol

Once you see the ati eyefinity with triple 24" monitor setup you will go crazy. Blows out that crap 3D thing Nvidia has trust me. Alienware recently made one its a curved super widescreen. Infact 3D gives me a headache. I prefer my normal eyes on a multi monitor setup anyday over 3D.

Long story short as of now if you have $250 budget then I suggest Nvidia 100% all the way. I have a PC here with a GTX 460 and I must say its the best $250 US I ever spent.
ATI has nothing for $200 - $250 ( you can get 768MB GTX 460 for $200) that beats Nvidia. However if you are a serious hard core gamer a Enthusiast if you may. Then nothing beats ATi right now. And with the upcoming drivers 3 HD 5870 will wipe the floor with 3 470 GTX. And 3 5970 will wipe the floor with 3 480 GTX. Especially considering the fact the HD 5000 series can take dread over clocking. If you OC the 480 GTX to much it will blow just google reviews of its temperature yourself. But offcourse you can't beat physx by Nvidia. Its quite revolutionary.

Honestly I happy with my single Nvidia 460 GTX SSC. Its in my budget and does what I need it to do.

OW BTW CHINEY

Google it a single GTX 460 almost matches a GTX 470. And beats the 465 GTX in a number of benchmarks.

I suggest you go with 3 GTX 460 in SLI buy the 768MB versions for $200 US

Thats a lovely $600 US well spent. Not sure if it beats a single 5970 4GB super OC though. But the gtx 460 runs cool enough to give the 5970 a dread Overclocking competition.

From reading benchmarks I highly doubt you want to overclock a 480 GTX. You might burn down your house seriously. Plus the 460 uses much less current than the 480 nd 470 so you can use ur current PSU no need to go waste more money on more powerful PSU. You better off spending da money on a 80GB intel SSD than buying a new PSU

Gotta shop smart.

The GTX 460 is only two way sli dude. The 1GB version is all round better to buy since it has a wider memory bus interface than the 768MB version.

As well as two GTX 460s in dual SLi mode have been tested and found to be just second in line to the ATi Radeon HD 5970 on most occassions. Go figure.

Now for those of you who are hellbent overclockers and unlockers like mehself 8-) ....
there is an MSI GTX 465 Twin Frozr Gold edition card that has been proven to unlock via a GTX 470 BIOS flashing to a full fledged GTX 470  .

However chances of finding one of these cards are quite rare cuz they're sold out at most e-tailers because of this bonus feature.

But you all have to realize that everyone's mileage will vary be it GPU overclocking or CPU undervolting. Use those online articles as a reference guide when purchasing new hardware to get an idea of their potential.

very good points yes

well as for PSU
i dont have one yet.
so i am goin with the antec tpq1200

as for card. i might end up with the 5870 in xfire.. and a 9800GT for phys-x

and as for overclocking.. dont even bash the gtx 480.. its one of the best known cards to OC once u can cool it !!

You should use the Coolermaster HAF 932, it was made for those large motherboards like the X58 4 way sli and it has that large fan at the side for cooling your GPUs, i think its a 230mm or smtin i cant remember exactly

very good post again HCCA!

460GTX 1GB is really nice! my entire system is a bottleneck now it may seems but its so small (compared to the others) yet beasts.

BTW just a heads up, you can get yourself a free copy of METRO 2033 with any purchase after the 13th of August of 4xx Nvidia's and MAFIA II free with 465 purchases :)

Hear this instead of the Antec i suggest the 1200W Cooler Master PSU

Their PSU is made by PC Power and Cooling.

I believe its better than the Antec.

I agree with the Cooler Master its supposed to be more efficient at lease my 5% and we know thats a crucial 5% plus the Antec has an 80mm fan wtf the Cooler Master has a 135mm this will help move the heat build up faster as we live in a very dry kinda weather

oh boy
u " BELIEVE? "

lol

anyhow..

virus... the 80mm fan on the antec is a very good one..it cools the unit spectacularly !!!
antec wont engineer a psu and put in a fan and does nothing.. my antec 850w stood up to heavy stress with some serious OC and SLi ( oc like wow too ) and never blew hot air....

Nah fellas. Antec knew what they were doing when they designed the TPQ-1200 with the 80mm fan.

Even the 1200W PC Power and Cooling psu has an 80mm fan in it and i know that is a best brand psu.

Seeing as the Antec TPQ 1200w was proven to put out 1700W continuous watts under a torture test load with 4 GTX 480s quad sli and a LN2 cooled Intel 980X cpu i'd say that is the better way to go.

Had an Antec Basiq 550w modular psu abt a 2 years ago powering a setup consistsing of an Intel Xeon E3110 oc to 4.5ghz and two ATi Radeon HD 4870s in xfire overclocked and that psu ran them like a champ. JohnnyGuru tests power supplies and many Antec models have proved to put out more than their rated wattage reliably.

Not saying anything bad abt Coolermaster products but Antec isn't to be underestimated at all.
