Even if the Mouttetts still maintains their shareholdings, the primary person in Linda's is Peter George, owner of Trotters and a Syrian and also the man who say the eroding middle class is the greatest threat to the upper class.

Also in another thread the 1% was said to be not race based but the top 1% of people in Trinidad overall money wise.

Make up alluh facking mind!!!!!

Moot point as to who the main man etc is. The owners is Mouttet.

This 1% talk is rubbish. Is Muwakil who brought it up. There was no 1% talk talk at the dinner table. Muwakil may have as well said "illuminati" or the "boogeyman". He probably don't even know how Trinidad's power structure is actually made up and who are the most powerful people. Is not anyone who sells donuts and coffee.....he is nowhere as powerful or considered as he thinks he is. Powerful people don't make themselves known to the public or media. They shy away from publicity. That's why they remain powerful.

The 1% speaks to a person's earnings and influence. It has little to do with race. They claim to be most "powerful" based on their economical influence etc. There are only "5000" of them so there is little examples of failures etc compared to the other two major races that number over 400,000 people each. That being said, you have to be crazy to not realise that there are over 5000 indians/africans who command the same sort of economic clout as the other "5000".

It's just that their 5000 is not fractured than the other 10,000+. Clico, HCL etc were not small companies. Jr Sammy and Coosal etc isn't a small company. Neither is Yorke's, SIS or Bhagwansingh's etc. Let's not forget Massy, Lok Jack etc. So don't pay too much thought about being the most "powerful". Pizza Boys group is probably the worst performing restaurant company in Trinidad. I suspect Royal Castle even outperform Church's etc. The star in that group would be Rituals and that's not under threat by Starbucks. If he was as powerful as he thought, the other 1% wouldn't have brought a Starbuck's here to compete with him. That's what being powerful means....Capable to demand that level of respect from the "community".

So nah, the 1% is all encompassing. Remember this 1% talk came from Muwakil and then got mixed up to make it appear like it was said at the dinner table. The wealthiest and most powerful people belong to the 1%. It's not a race thing
