In a 1994 article, former Philadelphia Bulletin reporter Joseph P. Barrett recalled how he took part in popularizing the term “Black Friday” throughout Philadelphia in the early 1960s, from which it eventually spread into nationwide usage:

The term “Black Friday” came out of the old Philadelphia Police Department’s traffic squad. The cops used it to describe the worst traffic jams which annually occurred in Center City on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

It was the day that Santa Claus took his chair in the department stores and every kid in the city wanted to see him. It was the first day of the Christmas shopping season.

Schools were closed. Late in the day, out-of-town visitors began arriving for the Army-Navy football game.

Every “Black Friday,” no traffic policeman was permitted to take the day off. The division was placed on 12 hours of duty, and even the police band was ordered to Center City. It was not unusual to see a trombone player directing traffic.

anyone in TNT uses these trackers?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GLY3HCS/ref=dp_cerb_1

Basically it's a tracker so you can put it on your keys, in your wallet, etc. It uses bluetooth, but even if it's out of range it uses Community Find to find your device, however a lot of ppl in your neighbourhood would have to be using it for it to be a reliable thing locally.

Doesn't seem as if there's much to be had locally. On the facebook pages of the usual suspects customers saying the sale prices aren't that much different to the regular ones...:|

Courts has 42% off a JVC 4K 50" tv though...

but do u know if it's worthwhile to have for tracking items that are far away- i.e. can you tell if there are enough ppl using it locally such that u can track an item via the Community Find feature?

Passed through Price Plaza about an hour ago, nearly every customer leaving PriceSmart was leaving with a TV, mostly JVC 50” HDR. Guess the price is good.

The Courts one sold out online too. Wonder what's the catch with those JVC TVs? Everywhere seems to have them relatively cheap...:|

The 'catch' is that it's a JVC.

Forget the JVC tvs, look at the newer TCL options, they are performing excellent and have some of the best response times if you're a casual gamer
