Good day folks.

Can anyone recommend a good quality floor paint for concrete? The paint should also be suitable to use in a small box drain (sides and base, also concrete). The box drain only takes away rain water, surface runoff and some waste water from a washtub. I used a kaleidoscope paint but it peeled and looks bad.

Recommendations are welcome.

Thanks.

Painting concrete floors the right way is some time and money. Check Sherwin-Williams and Bhagwansingh's for this stuff (Behr, Benjamin Moore, Ace).

You have to remove all the old paint, grease, dust, moss, etc. Wash it and wait till dry. Apply a primer. Dry. Dry concrete sucking up primer, so apply another coat. Dry.
Apply epoxy paint. Dry.
Apply concrete sealer to finish. Will last a very long time this way.

Sherwin Williams does not have anything. I asked already although I suspect that something may be available through their industrial line, but I am not too familiar with those products.

Any specifics recommendations for a good primer and epoxy paint?

Didn't want to go the way of decorative concrete. Too expensive for what I am looking for.

I believe that you already mentioned epoxy paint. Epoxy is the paint of choice for concrete pools.

I don't know about painting drains but I do know about painting gunite pools. If you only paint above the water line, a decent acrylic latex will work well for perhaps five years.

Does anybody know where I can get affordable epoxy liquid? Checked some places selling the overpriced kits. Looking for something within my budget.

To paint the exterior, about $10 per plan square foot and about $24 for the interior including paint and labor. Labor is typically 2 to 3 times the cost of materials.

Posting is this thread as I didn’t want to create an entirely new thread.

I am having difficulty in finding someone to build/construct a proper floating staircase. Can anyone recommend someone that can do this properly and reliably as it is a bit more complex than a regular staircase?

Thanks for any assistance.

See if this helps. The most expensive part seems to be the loaded wall to support it.

Yeah, I’ve done house plans, renovations and even furniture drawings in sketchup and the contractors and joiners were able to work exactly to plan

On this topic , the traditional system versus those plastic septic tanks from rotoplastics ? Pros and cons ?

Cheaper to build for me. A tank alone is approx. 7000$ and I have to cast a matting to rest it on then do soak away etc.

You need to cast a floor for it?
I thought you just dug a joke and dropped it in.

I don't believe that WASA allows plastic septic tanks currently.

So how come they are being marketed or it’s just for temporary places that don’t need approvals ?

They were acceptable for some time. There were failures because the tanks were installed incorrectly and WASA began to require a septic tank detail for all connection applications that lacked a sewer connection. If you have a plastic tank, you can replace it with a plastic tank.

I would guess that there are structures that aren't being built with WASA approvals or T&C approvals either. They may not even have a deed or a lease for the land that they're building on.

Didn’t know they were unapproved
There seem to be two types on the market
The ball shaped fat boy one
And a more elongated one similar to fuel tanks in gas stations, those look very sturdy.
