carrier grade nat. Meaning, you and a few hundred other customers will be sharing a single Ip address. Confirm if your modem wan address is showing a private ip address.

I notice a lot of you are calling into FLOW CSR for assistance. I abandoned that route a long time ago. I download the Facebook Lite app on my android phone and just send my complaint to FLOW CSR. Someone usually responds and tries to deal with the issue. Sometimes a CSR will call me. Just something to consider that will save you some money on phone calls.

I dont have a working password for my arris touchstone modem a time someone here posted a link to generate a password.

If I go to google and try to get some kinda weird IP

And yes an engineer told me something similar at a point he said Flow does not have enough IP address to issue or something of that sort.

Quick question will switching to another package like 30mb or 3MB will it likely to take me out of the cgn group?

spitfr had same issue and switching the package fixed the issue for him.

No issues crew checking in without a shared IP. Had a client with that issue a little while back getting a 10.something address. Called flow and it was resolved.

Not sure.. i would assume higher packagws will have better perks.. but i could be wrong.. im on the now 45mb and im getting a public ip to my modem. Reason its on the modem is bwcause i have a wifi gateway modem.. if your modem is non wifi, check your router

Its when the isp gives u a private ip instead of a public ip. But u are not the only person who uses that public ip at the same time.. its called carrier grade natting

If your wan address starts with 10.x.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x or 192.x.x.x then its private. Carrier grade nat has many issues.. if effective gets an ip ban from a porn site then everyone sharing that ip will be banned as well, port forwarding does not work as you will be trying to nat444 which will drop your port labled tag when that port reaches the isp nat router

You have the concept, but its not hundreds for CGN.

If your wan address starts with 10.x.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x or 192.x.x.x then its private.

CGN isn't RFC1918 addresses. I mean you can use it, but doesn't have to be.
You can use RFC6598
I don't think his connectivity issues is due to CGN though.

Well im not sure of your network topology.. why not push ipv6 to the modems the cmts should more than be capable to perform this v6 addressing? I have heard a few people having issues on the cgn tho... hire me and let me optimize flow's network..i think u guys will have less issues if u provide ipv6 to the cpe. If proper network design was done, there would have been no need for using a cgn. Think and implement for the future...would not be suprised if flow's backbone have a million type 5 lsa.. or god forbid there are static routes to fix ibgp issues

Nismo all I can say is if Shaq can solve my internet issue please hire him to do so. A lot of people will be very grateful for that.

I do have a network engineer friend who says this issue with Flow cannot be fixed and the only hope is to wait for GPON

^ if I remember correct it was regarding IP Address. Something along the lines of people sharing IP address or flow don't have enough IP addresses or something along those lines.
As a matter of fact he also has / had flow, and he switched back to Blink without saying a word to Flow.

This guy swears by DSL, like its holy scripture. And sure enough for the 8 years I had TSTT DSL I had maybe only 4 disconnects in 8 years thats beyond 99.9% uptime. Its a real shame that in this day and age TSTT still wants $200 for 1MB DSL.

That Holy Dedicated DSL is just too expensive for my blood, I can't pay $700 a month for 10mb I mean I could get like 2 flow 15mb connection for way less than that.

Same issue when I try to upgrade from 150Mbps to 240Mbps. I got downgraded to 100 Down and 7 Up. They tell me something wrong on their side and they have people trying to fix it. 3 Days now and it still ain't fix.
