assuming it was a fibre break undersea a speed test to a local server shouldn't be affected, only overseas servers- that might be your connection

Ok guys, so I was a flow customer before then I switched to Massy, my friend got Flow and the new white box, but I find that the 5 ghz band gets the full speed on speed tests and 2ghz lower much lower and on LAN its full speed as well, could this be a faulty router or is it just how all dem flow white router works?

The 2.4 GHz bands are most likely saturated in your area, and the router has chosen a channel that's overlapping with someone else's band. And 2.4GHz gets a lot of outside interference from all the other other devices like Bluetooth, microwave oven, cordless phones, etc.

Use the 5GHz with a repeater for ample coverage and penetration through the concrete walls, and leave the 2.4 GHz for the few older devices that are not capable of 5GHz.

Ok cool I always choose the channel nobody else is on. But another question, can this white router be mounted on on the wall, I see the two holes on it but I fine it will be hanging strangley.

A wireless repeater is usually easy to set up but can slow down your throughput under conditions of frequent uplink/downlink particularly when you have more than one client being served.

Try to survey the areas that you frequent with a tool like "Wifi Analyzer." You'll be able to know what the signal strengths are of your network and any/some competition from outside. If you require faster speeds, cascade or bridge your connection to a different (and maybe maybe more powerful) router or access point that is closer to where you need it. None of the CPE gateway routers that I am familiar with seem to be very fast or robust.

Also check for devices that are on your network at a distance or using 802.11 b/g to connect. Either situation can slow down your entire network.

Networking is a complicated topic and can be a real PITA to make work properly but it's not impossible.

Can anyone advise on this?

My Flow 100/20 works extremely well but my house is a WiFi disaster area with lots of obstacles to signal. I have maxed out on mesh networked access points and it is tolerable most places. However I want to use Moca (Ethernet over coax) to provide wired back haul between the access points. The Arris TG1672 router/modem that Flow provided me is Moca 1.1 (which is about 100mbs) and this would force the Moca 2.0 adapters (capable of ~400mbs) to work at 1.1 speeds.

Question: Has anyone received a router/modem from Flow which is Moca 2.0 compliant or, if I buy my own, will Flow be willing to provision it for use?

I can't say whether you would get Flow to accept your equipment but you can adapt the gigabit ethernet output from your modem to MoCA 2.0

Have you tried Power line adapters ?. I'm using that for that purpose. I think the Moca on that Modem is just for the Tv service. But I'm not sure, i don't see much stuff that uses Moca. I've seen Amplia use that method thou . well keep use updated on the out come.

Taking 10 minutes for the modem to connect after every reboot. US light blinking for 10 minutes before the modem connects.

Then there is packet loss and some major nasty 800ms ping when playing games.

Anybody else having this issue?

Pages loading kinda slow on my side.

Does anyone get drops for about a minute or so with the new white modem-router combo? Is it the modem itself or the inbuilt router? Never had problems with the old black modem. Thinking about disabling the router and setup a new separate router.

do u have fiber to the house or fiber to the pole?

i had a similar issue last year including dropped connections / disconnects (fiber to the pole then coax to the house)

my issue was the coax cable entering the modem was tangled / wrapped in the power cord of my router :oops:

it was interference. lol

i still use old black wired modem from flow ..if u using new router/modem combo .. my advice use ethernet n jack in your expensive router for wifi . can anyone vouch for digicel or massy service?

yeah the built in router and interface completely sucks in the white modem. But it's ac, so i'm still using it until i can get a good linksys ac router. Set the lease time to 24 hours in seconds. The default was really low and it kept dropping all the time.

I am not tech savvy like so many of you but I just did a speed test for the very first time and i do not like what I see:

I am paying for the bundle with UP TO 100mbps download and UP TO 20 mbps upload.

The readings are 34.4 mbps download and 22.5 mbps upload.

Is something wrong here?

Is Flow shafting me out of my money?

I just did it again and the reading are 30.7mbps download and 22.2mbps upload with a ping of 11 for upload and a jitter of 6 for upload.

HELP?

Are u testing from wifi or LAN, mobile device? AND WHEN LAST DID YOU UNPLUG YOUR MODEM/ ROUTER?

It's a good idea to unplug everything the router, switch etc. Every once in while.

And plugging back everything start with the modem and then with the switches Etc if you have any.
