Best heavy duty brushcutter: Stihl FS450 or Stihl FS500.

FS 280 here. last time it buss 2 times. Have the Autocut 40-2 i think it is... strange though, first few times we used it, it didnt burst and the grass was much thicker.

You all have any idea why? strung too tight?

Isn't that model one of the smaller machines? I'm not sure if that one is right for the size of grass you are cutting. How long have you been using it?

Also, I've heard.. then seen first hand that Farfan's customer service is very poor and their products and services are very over priced.
They are ready to change parts for any slight complaint.

Recommendations/Reviews Welcome...

That's why I said lil fs-120 1.8 hp 30.8 cc.

I know it's not recommend to cut grass that big but it was a one time thing. I will maintain it about 1ft from now on every month.

I only used it for 4hrs so far bought it in October.

Check Ramlagans for better pricing

Yes they were cheaper because they sell the brush cutter alone and you had to buy the accessories separate. Farfan had a package price with cutter, oil, autocut, string,1 gal gas container etc.
farfan was closer and more convenient to me

Guess they wouldn't want to under cut their distributors.
For example, a gallon of Shell oil I bought from FT FarFan is $205 and by Tiny's in $190.

Currently have a Stihl FS450, bought it in ft farfan, no issues so far. Bought it for landscaping purposes and it packs a punch in the power aspect. Fully satisfied so far.

Bought my ECHO 4605 Brush Cutter from Trintrac recently.....Price was approx $3500 (Brush cutter, Blade, String Head, Gas can, 1lb String and Quart of Oil). Works like a beast.

When comparing Stihl, Echo or even Shindiawa keep in mind its Displacement (cc).
A Stihl FS 450 (44.3 cc) is equivalent to the the ECHO 4605 (45.7 cc) and I paid $3500 as compared to $5290. That's a savings of $1790.

Not only cc ratings bro, but displacement power i.e. the actual power that is transferred to the cutting head. This concept explains why a homelite wacker rated at 30 cc will not ut as fast as a husquarvana, shindaiwa machine even though cc ratings are the same. All machines cut grass but the ones with the higher displacement ratio cuts faster since it will transfer more engine power to the cutting head where it matters most. Personally I prefer schinndaiwa for the above reasons. U all could check tool jouse in Duncan Village Sando, the owner is very knowledgable

First time I have seen this video, that 450 is impressive. Looks like them kinda elephant bamboo grass, has up on my side near the caroni river aswell. I have never seen a steel blade so big on a wacker before.

But I want to know the difference between Stihl and shindaiwa when it comes to longevity, ability to start each and every time on first or second pull.

I spoke to a guy who owns a small engine repair shop and he claims Shindaiwa gives less problems than stihl but I find this very hard to believe as Stihl is German Engineering.

I am buying a new FS 120 getting a deal on it for $3000 which is $400 less than FT. I have some 7 feet tall grass to clear down but its not THAT thick one time. And after its cleared down it would be suck eye from there on as I could just cut it every month with nylon.

^ Well I bough the FS 120 today :D

The motor and actual size of it is identical to the 250 but does not have the amount of torque like the 250.

HOWEVER my brother decided to test out this 120 and his 250, the new 120 is noticeably more powerful than his 250. My guess is because his 250 is 10 years old and carburetor has been replaced but not the original size one so thats definitely why the 120 feels more powerful. Maybe its because of loss compression in the engine over the 10 year period aswell? I really like the "Bike Handle" these Stihl comes with aswell, compared to the retarded small u shape ones in ryobi where the trigger is on the stupid shaft. Still has a wonderful design here with the wobble design bike handle.

Well whatever it may be I am really satisfied and I will get back 50% from the government aswell through farmers ID.

I test it out one time, ah demolish some thick hard 8 feet tall grass with it using the steel blade, it conquer that bamboo grass like a champ, really impressed I feel like even the FS 90 would have done the job since I only have to squeeze the trigger halfway, mostly quarter way. I am happy with this fine motorized piece of German Engineering :D

$3000 was a good price I got a free gas container and goggles with it aswell, bought it in St Helena the new garden shop just before Japs fry chicken. FT wants $3400 for it.
