FORMER Crime Watch host and United Naitonal Congress candidate for St Joseph Ian Alleyne and a Government minister were injured in a crash shortly after midnight today, in Port of Spain.

The Express was told that Alleyne was at the wheel of a Sport Utility vehicle traveling along Stone Road, in the vicinity of Powergen, when he lost control of the vehicle which overturned.

Several police officers including Inspector Ajit Persad went to the scene. Alleyne was reportedly administered a Breathalyser test, before he was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital along with

Ian Alleyne in Crash
He is resting comfortably at home and wants to assure the public that he did not do anything wrong or illegal.

FORMER Crime Watch host and United Naitonal Congress candidate for St Joseph Ian Alleyne and was involved in a crash shortly after midnight today, in Port of Spain.

ALLEYNE ISSUES STATEMENT

Alleyne today issued a statement clarifying today's incident. The following is the statement -

TV show host Ian Alleyne is resting comfortably at home after he was involved in an accident which occurred shortly after 10 pm on October 6th 2013 on Stone Street in Port-of-Spain.

Contrary to reports circulating on the Internet, Mr. Alleyne categorically states that he was not in the company of any Government Ministers.
Mr. Alleyne was driving his motor vehicle when it was suddenly hit from behind, resulting in his motor vehicle flipping. Fortunately, he suffered no serious injuries.
Police and ambulance arrived on the scene within minutes. Mr. Alleyne commends the officers who arrived on the scene, saying they were very helpful, and assisted him in recovering his items which had fallen out of the car.
About 45 minutes later, CID officers arrived and, Officer Hosten conducted a field sobriety test on Mr. Alleyne and as a result there was no need for an evidence test.
The test showed that he did not break the law and as a result these officers allowed him to leave.
Mr. Alleyne said he knows the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and has been an advocate against it and finds it very disturbing that many people will assume the worst on hearing the news of the accident.
He is resting comfortably at home and wants to assure the public that he did not do anything wrong or illegal.

Looks to me like the prado was in the opposite lane heading towards the golf. It the swerved dramatically to avoid the golf, and the golf pulled to the left to avoid the prado, but clipped the back of the prado, flipping it over. U can see the damage in the rear trailing to the front of the golf. Just my opinion

If it's a one way makes even more sense. If the prado came off wrightson on road or another and was heading the wrong way. The two of them may have been swerving back and forth to avoid. That prado rolled on its side and not flipped. Both tail lights and rear glass intack. Looks like it it clipped. I also would think the golf would be shattered into bits if it hit that prado hard enough From behind to flip it. Looks like a well placed clip on the rear wheel while the prado was off balance. I may be wrong. Just playing csi as electricity gone in the office
