Nah....
Only when he goes to Australia / England that " may " happen.

If he isn't a threat.....it won't
If he run through their batsmen.....bet yuh he gonna get called up.....a few times in any other way the series he performing well in.

TBH I am in two minds on this. It would be unfair to the core group that went to Zimbabwe last year and got us qualification to the WC to not get picked.
[As a refresher that squad was Jason Holder (c), Devendra Bishoo, Carlos Brathwaite, Sheldon Cottrell, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Evin Lewis, Nikita Miller, Jason Mohammed, Ashley Nurse, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Kesrick Williams]

There needs to be a balance who you are willing to take from the T20 mercs and just from a pure cricketing standpoint you really don't need DJ Bravo, Pollard and Russell in the same 11 especially if you already have Jason Holder.

Let the selectors chose who they believe is the best side available

That is the nature of professional sport

No room for sentimental picks

If you want to be picked be the best that you can be

Selectors have never been particularly impartial and I highly doubt they will start now. Besides how do they intend to judge who is the best when a lot of those players haven't played any kind of 50 over cricket in the past few years?

Use T20 as the barometer?

They will have to use their judgement and if they pick incorrectly be removed that is the nature of professional sport

In other countries selectors are changed often if the team is not successful

Thats the way it should be

ICC deadline to name the squad is today. WI the only outstanding team unannounced.
WICB say they will submit to ICC but not make public the squad till tomorrow.

Felt that squad is at least one batsman short - Lots of allrounders and bowlers but only 4 specialist batsmen.

A spinner as a must in place of either one of the fast bowlers or maybe have Hope keep with Pooran as backup. I am sure every other nation will have at least 1 specialist spinner in their 11.
Roach, Gabriel, Cottrell, Thomas, Holder and Russell is a pretty once dimensional attack.

WRT to Hope - WI rarely outbats sides in ODIs and going with only 4 specialist batsman in an 11 seems very dangerous.

Just saw an article that WI playing in a tri series in Ireland before the WC feat the hosts, Bangladesh as well. http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/ ... es-ireland

The squad for that series is significantly different from the WC one. You would think they would want the WC players to get competitive 50 overs match time in.

Tri Series squad - Jason Holder (capt), John Campbell, Darren Bravo, Shai Hope, Sheldon Cottrell, Shannon Gabriel, Kemar Roach, Sunil Ambris, Raymond Reifer, Fabian Allen, Ashely Nurse, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Jonathan Carter

That tri nation makes no sense if the world cup 15 not involved...only a few...

Back to the squad...who is better between Allen and Nurse

This is the preliminary squad, If someone eg. Reifer performs exceptionally well in this series, I believe they can force themselves into the WC squad, at the expense of someone of course, or maybe if someone becomes injured etc.
It's the same way Jofra Archer can still make England's WC squad if he performs well in the upcoming Eng vs Pak ODi series, even tho he hasn't made the Eng preliminary squad.

Big ground, small ground, it does not matter. Same licks.

WI now have the new world record for an opening partnership in ODI's

314/0 and counting.
