India completed a nice run in SA with a victory...they head to England ranked 1st in test...if you ask me...I think they could take the cup next year

ESPN had advertisements for the WC qualifiers that starting soon in Zimbabwe.
We will get the chance to see the WI have to qualify for the main thing.

TBH I don't believe that WI are better than either Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland. Remember in the last WC WI couldn't even defend a 300+ total against Ireland whist against Afghanistan they won only one of three matches.

I feel the matches will be competitive and not walkovers.

Yes they will b competitive since alot of our first choice players are not available as they are participating in the PSL.

Just to be devil's advocate.......who from the squad that is in Zimbabwe would you drop and which PSL players would you bring in?

Apart from Narine, Pollard and Darren Bravo I really see no need for any more exchanges and TBH Bishoo is a pretty good substitute for Narine whilst its difficult to play Pollard and maintain team balance whilst also having the other medium paced all rounders already in the squad playing (Holder, Brathwaite, Rovman Powell.)

WI Squad
Jason Holder (c)
Jason Mohammed (vc)
Devendra Bishoo
Carlos Brathwaite
Sheldon Cottrell
Chris Gayle
Shimron Hetmyer
Shai Hope
Evin Lewis
Nikita Miller
Ashley Nurse
Rovman Powell
Kemar Roach
Marlon Samuels
Kesrick Williams

I have always felt WI biggest problem in ODIs was we had too much of the same thing in the middle order -
hard hitting allrounders who all bowled medium pace - Sammy, DJ Bravo, Russel, Pollard, Holder.
If your allrounders not exceptional (like Kallis was) then without enough specialists (batsmen or bowlers) you will not win much. WI performance even with their full squad was pretty poor in ODIs hence their need to qualify now.

Yea i think Russel, the Bravos and Narine definitely will be missed.
Bishoo is too inconsistent, Narine is a game changer and much more consistent.

Are you really surprised? If you were following the rise of Afghan cricket over the past few years, you would not be.

The best comment from the cricinfo website about the WI loss:

M Kamran Qureshi · New York, New York
"Although they have improved drastically, 164 still wasn't a hugh target to chase. WI just don't seem to have any motives or passion playing for their country."

Marshall Edward · Athens, Georgia
This is undeniably the low point of west indies cricket. Don't think it can get any worst than this. these players go into an inning without any game plan at all.

The Aussies would be my pick to win!!
South Africa's main weapon is pace and they have asked their groundsmen to not prepare spicy wickets. They are afraid.
