I had to buy the heavy armored cable to rewire a house from meter to panel
within a year the insulation on the wires started cracking up
I had to hire a guy to wrap and silicone it over
he had to do it in a somewhat illegal manner as it was the section which is crimped to the mains
and it was an emergency.

needless to say I later found out that it was a common problem and even the great bureau of standards knew about it and did not enforce or make the company pay to fix these problems which could cause serious fire etc.

Um, that's because he used XLPE wire, XLPE is not supposed to be used outdoors because it wasn't made to withstand the heat of the sun. PVC on the other hand wouldn't have cracked up. Pretty sure this is the fault of the electrician.

WRT it being a common problem, yes it is a common problem .......... With XLPE wire, not PVC.

Was it a licensed electrician that did the job?

have a question for any one who knows, i have about 60' of cable to run from a metered pole to my house panel, want to know what is acceptable by the electrical inspectorate, meaning i know the standard is to dig a trench 2' with a bed of sand etc but where i have to run the cable it has a decking so its a lot of cutting and digging which is costly, is there any other way to run the cable, does it have a special surface trunking for these cables, oh there is a block wall very close to where the cable have to run can i put it in the wall then plaster it up would the inspectorate pass it, any info would help thanks

I have to buy a good bit of electrical for wiring. I know about ME so tell me about Mohammed's, Anand's, Boodoo's, Rocky's.

What other stores are there that are reasonable while having good quality. The breakers must be able to handle high loads without overheating.

if you have the full list in a easily readable format send me it, i could get you a quote with the discount boodoos gives me

many times you would find boodoos has certain things cheaper and modern electrical has certain things cheaper and alisha marketing have certain things cheaper etc.....

to save the most $$$ you usually need to hit 2 or 3 places

I have some hand-me-down supplies from ME and it seems like decent products but I heard they expensive for the product grades they sell. Trying to save as much money as I can, it all adds up.

Watchu mean breakers to handle high load without overheating? That's kinda the principle of operation of a breaker. If it is subjected to load over its rating it heats up and trips.

Good prices but crappy chinese LED bulbs and tubes. Bought some 8 foot LED setups with dual pin tubes some years ago, unable to get replacements as all 8 foot tubes now come single pin and single pin ends won't fit the original base. Buy your lights somewhere else :?

You can usually easily change the tombstone on the end to the single pin one

Yes but then it doesn't fit into the original base without having to cut as the single pin tombstone is a bit larger
