Before everyone starts giving their expert opinion:
If your dentist is doing implants @ 8000 a tooth he is either very new in the game and trying to get patients to gain experience, or using el cheapo implant materials. Dental implants(per tooth) should average around 12,000 to 16,000 depending on where you go.

Everyone is dropping in implants, but not everyone can do implants well. The procedure is very simple, but the pitfalls many.

If you want to stick to central I can recommend a few good surgeons. Always let your friend ask the experience of the dentist in placing implants, who taught them etc. Most have done a single session, or 2 session class on placing implants. That's 10 hours of post graduate training.
Be careful.

Dental solutions principal dentist is very good, expensive but very good. A good choice if you dont mind heading into Port of spain.

I'm about 75% complete on an implant, being done by Dr Sharma at the Dental Implant center...$15.5k (offices in Chaguanas and Gulf View medical).

I have a bad habit of chewing the ice in my drink, and I broke a tooth (1st molar) a couple months ago. The way it was broken prevented it being repaired, so it was pulled, and an implant (titanium or adamantium I think  ) was hammered into the jawbone. A flap of my gum was cut and sewn over that implant, to allow the bone to grow around the implant, which takes a couple (2-3) months to properly set. Just last week had an x-ray and the flap was removed. Impression was taken for the replacement tooth, which will be connected to the titanium implant, have to go back in 5-6 weeks to have it put in.

Not a painful or uncomfortable experience, and it would be nice to have the space filled...just freaking expensive

@ Crazy chinee. The cost of an implant depends on the site, size and type of implant being placed. It also depends on if bone grafting is needed or not. that price range of 8k - 12k means that it depends on what is being done. it doesn't mean that the implant quality is cheap. Also the price of 12-15 that you are quoting means that the dentists just likes to make alot of money. The implant system used by this dentist is a brand called zimmer. Google this, it is a very big brand of dental implants. Furthermore the prices of implants in Trinidad are way more expensive than in the USA. It is approx 1500-2000 usd for a single implant in the USA. Most people come to Trinidad to do fillings , but some locals go to miami to do their implants because dentists charge too much for implants here.

@Jack the ripper. Do you have to pay a separate cost for the crown?. Some dentists like to charge you for the implant and at the last stage he would tell you that the crown is a separate charge. Also if you think that the cost of implants determine the quality i can send you to someone who quoted me 30k for one implant from start to finish. I currently have two implants in my mouth.

My dentist recommend to me a dental implant specialist on the corner of Junction St. and EMR in Curepe. They seemed very professional and was charging 8-12K per tooth. I ended up getting a hook up at the Mt Hope Dental Hospital but it was kinda risky as it were students operating on me. I just eventually removed it called it George.

Dr. Browne in POS, Periotrin limited. Strictly by referral, and only implants and periodontic treatment.

EXCELLENT Dr.

i paid 15,000 a tooth. did 3 at DR seebalack (sp?) by the oval in POS. great great dentist. he numbs the mouth so u dont feel a thing, when the numbness wears off, its like 2-3 days pain after each visit tho. mine were done in steps due to other complications, not sure if this is how its normally done. i really would recommend him to anyone, im scared as hell with dentists but he really helped me to conquer my fear.

$15.5K was the total cost. I had to pay 50% at the start, the other 50% has to be paid when the crown is installed.
