T&T hosts a Military Tattoo

July 25, 2012:

The Ministry of National Security will present the 2012 Military Tattoo from August 18 to 26, 2012.

The show, billed Conquerabia - Spear and Drum, will feature road shows across the country, a children's show, a tattoo village in Woodford Square in addition to the main tattoo show at the National Stadium.

A military tattoo is a display of military marching bands, skills, drills and tactics.

This year's tattoo will begin in Tobago on August 18 and 19, move to Arima and San Fernando on August 21 with the children's show on August 23 and the main event from August 24 to 26 at the National Stadium.

Conquerabia - Spear and Drum is a musical journey that chronicles the move from conflict to peace, from many peoples to one people. It is a journey through our past that looks toward our future as we continue to strive for excellence.

The Tattoo will display the musical and artistic forms of our forefathers and blend them into the calalloo that is Trinidad and Tobago. The show will re-enact some of Trinidad and Tobago’s military history and celebrate our distinguished military icons

This Tattoo, which is part of Trinidad and Tobago’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, will celebrate of the rich military history of Trinidad and Tobago that stretches from pre-colonisation, through two world wars and into the modern era of operations other than war. The tattoo will recognise the contributions of the many groupings that have made this nation their home while celebrating those things that make us uniquely Trinidadian.

For those who have viewed and participated in Tattoos in the past can attest to the fun and exciting time that is had, those with children will do well to at minimum attend the event in the National Stadium

Man thiss is one of the few events hosted in this country that I enjoyed as a child. Real skills. Well put together

Was hearing a talk that you had to apply for tickets although the event is free?

Anybody with better info?

not sure but tomorrow is free to all (no ticket needed)because they want the stadium packed to test out the acoustics

the tickets are for entry probably to not exceed the max number of people the place can hold, not sure,......... but tomorrow is free game :mrgreen:

the event is free but you need tickets to enter....just call the number on the ad in the newspapers.

The event yesterday was 'walk in' and free admission.
It was a decent display, especially the tactical demos. I was surprised at the level of patriotism shown by the crowd, it was nice.......

today was the bomb! started promptly at the advertised 5pm.
helicopter, live music, bombs, men scaling down ropes, limbo.....[was worth every cent...lol!]
it was worth the time, and there was also fireworks.
really nice atmosphere and patriotic feeling.
