Rocking Randy, the DJ known as the mixtape pioneer in Trinidad and Tobago passed away last night.
On hearing news of his death, producer Lyndon Livingstone who worked with Randy said "Must say that if Randy didn't appear on the scene, us mixtape men would be years behind. He changed the game with his mixes and made us step up and pay attention to all the new possibilities that technology can offer. I personally worked for him for a while doing remixes and edits under low. Very jolly soul. Trinidad has indeed lost a dj/ mixtape pioneer."
Randy Seetahal who eventually established the Planet Rock Studios in Couva, lived an extremely private life and deliberately kept his real name and photo out of the limelight.
Randy, who started mixing when he was just a teenager with eight track tapes, cassettes and vinyl records, was an outstanding sound engineering students who also taught and worked in various studios in New York.
