I watched the Netflix series "Drive to Survive" very eye-opening about the ultra-competitive world of F1.

Red Bull's Horner was gloating at Renault's Cyris, chastised their engines and moved to Honda. Well, Ricardo went to Renault.

Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly at Red Bull make a dynamic due but F1 is not known for driver teamwork as Red Bull knows from the exploits of Ricardo and Verstappen.

Romain is a talented driver for Hass but prone to mistakes.

I knida root for Sergio Perez as he is from our hemisphere, but he has the backing of Carlos Slim which is attractive to teams. With another diver with huge financial backing in Lance Stroll, one cannot be sure how long team Racing Point would keep him.

Sad to see Alonso go. Still had so much to offer, however the Mclaren Honda and then Mclaren Renault was reportedly too slow and unreliable. He was not prepared to be an also-ran.

Yea it was an excellent series.

Really pitched people against Cyril and Horner though - funny to see them both like kids on a playground taking pot shots at each other.

rest well Charlie Whiting.

Charlie Whiting: F1 race director dies aged 66 on eve of season-opener in Melbourne

Charlie Whiting, the head of Formula 1 for governing body the FIA and one of the most influential people in the sport for decades, has died aged 66.

Whiting suffered a pulmonary embolism on Thursday morning in Melbourne, where he was due to officiate this weekend's season-opening Australian GP.

Whiting was the official race starter and oversaw all rules matters in F1.

FIA president Jean Todt called Whiting "a central and inimitable figure who embodied the ethics and spirit" of F1.

thats some kinda sandbagging ...a two second differential from the start to the end.... but whats interesting to me is Williams... 1:24 vs 1:26 for Kubica....thats six seconds they lose per lap assuming the top three do what they do best.

15....ok make it 17 laps barring any incidents that brings out the SC before they're lapped...and adds the whole "traffic" element to allow competitors to catch each other...

Appears to be a pulmonary embolism. Often occurs in persons who spend lots of time seated in long haul flights as that gives time for the clot to form.

He’s in for a rough turn 1. He will have 2 drivers with 9 WDC titles between them chasing him down.

It should be a Ferrari 1-2 this weekend barring any shenanigans in lap 1. Ferrari have consistently been faster in sectors 1 and 2 whole weekend.

A weekend that should have been Ferrari 1-2 ends up bagging maximum points for Merc.

Renault engine sucks once again.
Charles is the real deal.
Vettel needs to remain level headed. Not the first time he spins under pressure.
Max still consistent, I expect some podiums for that Honda engine.

Not exactly maximum points... One extra point goes towards Leclerc for having the fastest lap in the race and finishing in the top 10.

No doubt this was his race to win but this is also Motorsport.

This race shows that his first win in F1 isn't far of. It also shows how fast that Ferrari power unit can be. It does show that Honda has caught up to Renault at least.

China will be the real test of straight line speed

Renault engine sucks once again. Tell me this thing!

Max still consistent (wondering since he doesn't have to deal with teammate Daniel Ricciardo anymore), I expect some podiums for that Honda engine.

Lol @ Renault. Enjoying their downfall after all the smug comments to RBR.

McLaren have really stepped up their game. Sainz was faster than Max in his first stint, and imho Max should’ve gotten a penalty for spiking him.

I find that it is just as boring as the previous few seasons. Mercedes dominating as usual. Give Jack his jacket, they have done the best job since the introduction of the V-6s, so they deserve to win. But they are so far ahead of the other teams, no matter what developments Ferrari or Red Bull bring, they just are simply too far behind to make a difference. Look at how Mercedes just play with Ferrari in the practice sessions.

MotoGP this year again blows F1 out of the water.

By that same token... MotoGP has gotten boring for me unless someone besides Marquez is the winner or it rains. The bikes are pretty predictable
Ducati-monster on the straights
Yamaha-monster in the corners
Honda-kinda all round
Suzuki-still fighting to enter the top ranks

Then again to each his own...

Stappen is erratic and dangerous.
Hes a fantastic driver and has a terrific future..but hes got to learn to control himself first.
