tradecarview.com site

Postby speedist » January 20th, 2013, 10:38 pm

Has anyone used this site to purchase a car? Is it legit? If so, I'd like to get info on all fees involved, estimated cost of shipping, broker, etc.

tradecarview is like an ebay of Japanese used cars, they only link you up with different dealers from all over japan. You still must be careful when using this site to purchase are car because just like on ebay you can get screwed if you choose a horrible seller. Also buying from this site is sometimes more expensive than just buying direct from the seller. (extra fees involved). You can do what my cuz did. Use the site to find a car and then just contact the seller directly. (eliminate the middle man) Hope this helps.

There are a couple powersellers who do the import thing, hit them a pm and see. Just remember you gonna have to pay a fee. Also beware of some of the cars on the site, some have body damage and may have other problems, especially those with just 2-3 pics

A citizen of T&T is allowed 1 car every three years. During this time the car cannot be sold or transferred.

You should ensure you have access to USD. Most of these sites will quote in USD (this was my major problem...and prolonged the transaction for 2 weeks)

I used the following supplier CARCHS Co. Ltd.

When you find the car you want (car must not be over 6 years). Message the seller and negotiate a price I opted and used the paytrade system for security reasons (information is on the site)

Once you both agree on the price, the seller will initiate the transaction by providing you with an invoice. This is payable in 1-2 business days (pay close attention to the time in Japan)

They would send you the wire instructions for you to wire the funds (ensure that you send the charges so the full invoices amount reaches the sellers bank)

Once the seller confirms receipt of funds they would initiate the de-registration and shipping process...

Once they had de-registered and organize the shipping they would send you the documents via post and scanned email

1. Invoice (I did not receive a caricom invoice)

2. Bill of lading (3 copies)

3. De- registration certificate

4. Year of manufacture letter (ENSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE THIS)

When you receive these documents go to the following site

Howtoapplyforanimportlicence.aspx

And download the import form and complete in triplicate

Copy all documents and go the TTMA Building in Barataria ground floor and apply for the license. It would be ready in about 1-2 weeks

Pay close attention to when the vehicle is arriving and secure the services of a broker to clear the car.

Once cleared you can wreck it home, or drive it if you can get D plates.

and that's it.

Now I did everything regarding the sale in Japan through the site. It is possible to contact the supplier separately, but it will be more risky as the site offers security.

If you do decide to use pay trade, it comes at an extra cost

Let use an average or 6000USD for Cost and Freight breakdown as follows:

Estimated US Exchange Rate used – TT $6.44
Cost & Freight – US $6000.00
US $6000.00 x TT $6.44 = $38,640.00

Cost & Freight 38,640.00
Broker Fee (document processing, clearance and registration of vehicle) 3000.00
Customs Duty (25%) 9,660.00
Motor Vehicle Tax – 1300cc @ $3.75 4,875
VAT (TT $53,175.00) 7,976.25
TOTAL Cost of Vehicle $61,151.25

Additional Local Costs
Local Bank (Wire Transfer Fee) 65.00
Foreign Bank Processing Fee (US $16.50) 106.26
Insurance Avg Fully Comprehensive 5000.00
TOTAL Additional Local Costs $8,171.26
TOTAL Overall Costs $69,322.51

Now the motor vehicle taxes varies depends on the CC rating of the said vehicle, Taxes as follows:

3.75 up to 1500CC
11.25 up to 1999CC
18.75 upwards of 2000CC

What he said....

This is the only way you will know if you save, CIF of vehicle + Taxes....
