AA flight to Miami emergency landed in BVI?

Postby Tired Accord » October 22nd, 2013, 12:59 pm

I just heard that flight AA-2282 had an engine failure and the cabin filled with black smoke. Passengers were told to don life jackets and air masks in preparation for crash landing, but the flight landed in Providenciales in the BVI safely....??? This was like 1-2 hours ago!!!

Anyone with info on this?

those kind of incidents have to be one of the scariest things on earth yes, knowing that you could be dead very soon and theres not one firetruck you can do about it.

Wow, check the logs at 1004 to 1005 hrs!

22 Oct 10:04 475 kts 36,000 feet (11 km)
22 Oct 10:05 473 kts 23,500 feet (7 km)

That drop! Balls in throat fear.

So very lucky that they were near an airport when this happened! Or else it would have been a terrible, watery end. :|

AA plane in emergency landing

Story Created: Oct 22, 2013 at 9:40 PM ECT

Story Updated: Oct 22, 2013 at 9:40 PM ECT

AN American Airlines flight out of Piarco International Airport was forced to make an emergency landing in Turks and Caicos Islands yesterday, after the pilots detected smoke in the cockpit.

Several regional news agencies reported that the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority confirmed that they had received a distress call from AA Flight 757, during which the pilots requested clearance for landing.

The flight, which was full and left Trinidad bound for Miami, Florida, landed safely at Providenciales International Airport around 10.30 a.m.

The emergency landing brought out rapid responses from both the aviation and domestic fire services, with the emergency medical services in tow.

It also appeared that after landing, something had leaked or fallen from the plane, as fire-fighters were seen hosing away substances from a section of the runway where the craft had come to a stop.

The plane was later towed away to the airport’s gate, where the passengers disembarked.

Alternative flight arrangements were made for the diverted passengers.

Up to yesterday, arrangements were being made for American Airlines engineers to be flown to Turks and Caicos to inspect the plane.

   I just instantly felt sick after reading that
I wonder how long it would take the average person to get back on a plane after experiencing that?

It might have been fast but shouldn't have been that bad. Ya gotta get back on a plane right after to get where you're going anyway right..
